Carnival Magic is as clean as she can be but there's no doubt a cosmetic overhaul is due. The only things I really did not like about this ship, silly as it sounds, are the round green and white lights. They are everywhere and they look like the bloodshot eyeballs of green-blooded aliens. See if you don't think so too!!! I would hop back on board for another cruise on Magic tomorrow if only I could!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
My husband and I are in various stages of handicapped-ness at this time and we chose to embark using the wheelchair option. I cannot say enough about the folks who push the chairs. The operation is smooth and pleasant and for people like us who can move along slowly with many rest stops, getting on board would be a daunting experience without these great folks.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
I am forced to say that although all the food was very good and well prepared, the main dining room food is not of the calibre it was even two years ago. The options are less interesting and more everyday, which might appeal to most people but they are not what we hope for. The selection of "exotics" appears to have become less exotic. Service is RUSHED. I dislike giving my dessert order at the same time as my entree and it seems to me that encourages waste. Evidently a lot of people eat in the main dining room and want to gobble it down and rush off to the shows. We do not do the shows and dinner in itself was an event for us. That was disappointing. But let me reiterate, overall the dining room is still pretty darned good. The Cuchina del Capitano serves lovely authentic Italian food and we enjoyed our dinner there very much. I miss Ji Ji on this ship. The Seafood Shack, an extra $ addition, serves a "steamed peel and eat shrimp" that you have to eat to believe. They are delicious...and huge! Lobster rolls are good (not as good as Maine lobster) and the fried plate was also very tasty. They have fresh fish and crab and oysters to offer also. Lido Marketplace is always great for grazing!!
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We do very little organized activity so can't judge. My idea of activity on this ship was on the aft deck 10, at the pool, in the hot tub, being served lovely drinks and eating from either the Seafood Shack or the handy Marketplace.
Cloud 9 Spa
4 out of 5
The venue is lovely and there are certainly a goodly number of options. We stay on the spa decks because I love the Elemis product to use in the shower. I did miss the lotion now that the little bottles have gone away. I suppose the spa employees rely on commission because they certainly are a hard-sell outfit. That I dislike.
Entertainment
We managed to do a whole week without seeing a show or performance of any kind...we lounge a lot!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Always one of the best parts of cruising. We enjoy talking to the staff. They are friendly, hard working and always happy to do anything they can to make the trip great.
Ship Quality

I like the design of the Magic. Complaint: It is a LONG walk from Deck 12 forward to 4 aft for dinner!!! I WISH that Deck 5, pleasant to walk on, didn't go straight through the smoky Casino.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Perfect. Deck 12 balconies do not have covers because there is no deck above but that didn't cause any issues for us. I like to be in the Spa area because of the Elemis products for showering and the free use of certain spa facilities. You do have to be careful not to be bullied by the hard-sell Spa workers though.
Ship tip
Spend time on the aft of Deck 10. Try the Seafood Shack.
Pretty city. Not as much evidence of poverty as some. We did a tour on a little rackety fun train that used to be use to collect the sugar cane combined with a bus tour. Learned a lot about the island and enjoyed the free drinks on the train too! St. Kitts is in a transition state - they have done away with their sugar cane industry and are looking towards tourism and foreign investment.
Beautiful looking city. We were quite tired and so enjoyed ourselves from the deck of the Magic because my husband wanted to have the energy to go buy ball caps in Grand Turk.....
I've always thought those silly lights looked like boobs. 😏 But, I love the Magic and can't wait to be back on board in a couple weeks! Glad you enjoyed your vacation!
Fully agree about the weird bloodshot eyes. Remind me of an old sci-fi with bad special effects, and once you see it, you can't stop seeing it every time.
