Review summary

I personally would not recommend this ship for the following reasons: Long lines for pretty much everything from the drinks (the flow of the drinks/soft serve were so slow hence the long lines to guys burgers. Also the food has made a turn for the bad. Doesn't taste as excellent as it used to. Excursions were so expensive and not too exciting looking. The boat was so rocky so if you battle motion sickness this is not the boat for you. Entertainment was to me very boring. Lines for customer service were always long. Didn't like how I wanted to cancel an art auction order and the guest services couldn't do it for me. The only thing was the service for the housekeeping and dining room service did not change and stayed the same which was excellent but even there they seemed so short staffed or worked so hard they barely had time to even take the time to get to know their guests. To me this was a fail and this means a lot from someone who is a HUGE advocate for cruising.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Now this is the part I was looking forward the most. I remember the food being outstanding from the soups, salads all the way to the desserts 15 years ago. This time at most it was subpar. The staff were excellent though. Buffet lines were always long. Main dining room was fine.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
totally bored this time around. 2 small pools that were packed most of the time. Comedy Shows were boring. Activities didn't always match up with the app so you would show up and that activity wouldn't be going on.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
nothing spectacular here.

Children's Programs

kids did not want to participate in kid's cub

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
guest services could work on greeting guests with a smile.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Hallways had a wet smell. Outside white rails were covered in some kind of dirt/mold looking thing. Some floors were so hot.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Loved the hand held shower. Loved the shower gel and shampoo dispensers vs the 1-2 samples they used to give us.

Ship tip

If you have seasick then don't take this boat. It rocks and roll.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
Didn't do any excursions Liked the closeness to the port

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island) Did not visit port

bad weather per captain

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

4 out of 5
Went to the nearby beach. no excursions. Excursions were too expensive and nothing looked good or exciting

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
Rented a golf cart drove around the island and just checked out as many beaches as we could. The beaches were beautiful,. If your feet are sensitive I would recommend getting swim shoes.

Disembarkation

What a shame you found so many negatives.

Have you cruised before? There are lines on every single ship. It’s the nature of traveling with 4000 people.

The Magic was wonderful!!! We had a group of 14 in April 2019 and it was the best vacation ever for all of us. The longest line that we experienced was at the Mongolian Wok, but it was worth the wait. However, when we got there early, the wait was very minimal. I would definitely recommend this ship--something for everyone.

A ship that size must had rough water.

Too bad you missed half moon! I would travel in the boiler room of a tramp steamer just to spend a day at half moon.

Any ship will have movement if the sea conditions are right, so it’s not unique to this ship. The lower and closer to the center of the ship you are will reduce the amount of motion you feel. Service and fewer employees seems to be an issue everywhere now, not just the cruise lines. Businesses are trying to cut costs at every corner.
