We had a great time. The Magic has been the largest ship we have been on and have no desire to go on any ship larger than this one. We enjoyed the size and amount of passengers on the conquest last year much more. But overall the magic is a very nice ship with a lot of activities especially for those who are younger or are traveling with younger people.

Food and Dining

The food in the steakhouse and the Italian restaurant was very good. Food in the main dining room was generally OK, the prime rib was all fat and grizzle. The breakfast and brunch in the main dining room was very good although I noticed they no longer walk around offering danish and the croissants you had to ask for them. Food at the Lido market Place was hit or miss. Carnival continues to have the worst hotdogs I have ever tasted. Guys burgers and the blue iguana were excellent as was the pizza. The deli in the Lido marketplace is not so hot, even the desserts at the Lido marketplace are nowhere near as good as the desserts you have to pay for at the coffee shop, same with the ice cream. Room service was very good, great having coffee and danish, croissants, muffins etc. Delivered when you want first thing in the morning is great. I don’t like the fact that they charge for delivery between 10pm and 6am. Drinks in the bars were generally very good, Casino bar had a very good bloody Mary.

Who ever does the menus or planning for Carnival needs to learn about Italian Restaurants. I am a NYC born and raised Italian American and the one thing all Italian Restaurants must have is good bread. They served some brioche thing with a little garlic butter on top of it that was mushy and not very good, A good Italian restaurant had this good crusty Italian bread. The fried calamari was a bit overcooked and rubbery. The rice balls we’re pretty good. For the entrée we had the bass and the short rib both were excellent. The desert was ok as was The espresso with Sambuca. The entertainment by the staff during dinner was great. Overall it was definitely worth the extra $15 a head. And don’t be confused by the free pasta bar during lunch the for pay dinner menu is completely different and in my opinion worth it.

Ship Quality

Ship was very clean the staff do a wonderful job. This was the largest cruise ship we have been on and I wouldn’t care to be on anything larger. Lines for food on the Lido deck and other things Are extremely long and pushing it.
Cabin / Stateroom

Typical carnival balcony room plenty of room for two people. From what I understand ship was re-done in 2016 and it’s getting close to needing a redo. Our cabin steward Heri was great and did a excellent job. This room right behind the bridge and you can see them and they can see you. It wouldn’t of been my first choice for a room location but we booked late and it was one of the few balconies left. What was very nice about this front location was you were a few steps from the very quiet and secluded front deck of the ship and could easily walk down the stairs to deck 5 Which went around the whole ship.
We did the Carnival top 10 of St Maarten shore excursion. We did make all 10 because of traffic and a guest getting lost at one stop and almost missing the bus, we wasted almost 30 minutes looking for her. Me and my better half adopted her for the rest of the tour so she wouldn’t get lost. But all in all it was a very nice sure excursion
We did the carnival top 10 of St. Kitts Shore excursion and we enjoyed it was very nice to hike up to the top of the fort is worth it, and I have a bad knee but the view is spectacular .
Again we did the top 10 bus tour of Puerto Rico it was very nice the guide was very informative we stopped for a short time at different sites and he gives you a taste of the island
We were here last year and did the electric hummer excursion which was fun but this year we just went and hung out at the pool in Margaritaville and also the beach. Grand Turk is very very hot in June. We were here last year at the end of March and the weather was much nicer.
We missed the faster to the fun disembarkation announcement while we were having breakfast in the main dining room, they said they made the announcement we heard nothing. There was a problem with the gangway and it caused a gigantic back up in the lobby on deck three to get off the ship. Carnival needs to address these things much more quickly they have people stationed with walkie-talkies that could have stopped people from getting in the elevator is and causing this gigantic back up when the problem with the gangway occurred . People couldn’t even get out of the elevators because of the crowd. First time we ever encountered something like this and was totally avoidable if carnival personnel in charge of this would’ve use the tools at their disposal.
