Overall I would recommend the cruise. Decent cruise experience.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Super fast and painless, a big step up from my last Carnival cruise in 2010
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The main dining rooms were decent, food was pretty good for the most part. Buffet food was, well buffet food. Better then all inclusive troughs but still a trough.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Lots of interaction from Carnival with guests, upbeat atmosphere.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Entertainment was good, comedy, rock show etc.
Children's Programs
4 out of 5
I had no children on board but plenty available for children to do.
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
Some of the staff were excellent as expected. The wait staff in the main dining area made a point of telling our group 3 times that they worked for only tips. They emphasized the only income derived while working on a Carnival ship was via gratuities from us. I have always tipped our wait staff in the main dining area as well as the gratuities collected per person daily. I was taken back by this and skipped the main dining experience on a couple of occasions and did not tip the wait staff as I felt they were verbally soliciting our group for tips. We did tip our room cleaning staff.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Okay design and clean for the most part. The public restroom areas that I used sporadically probably 10 times seemed to have cleaning staff in them 8 out of the 10 times. Not a coincidence they keep cleaning them constantly....nice
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Furniture is starting to look used, beds could use an upgrade and maybe some USB charge ports added the rooms, TV's are dated etc. Probably and its a guess here but the ship should be heading for major updating.
Ship tip
Again decent experience but time for the ship to experience some technical upgrades, maybe the new smart elevator systems Carnival has started to use as well.
