This was a great first time cruise. I would do it again, but I would not get off at the port of Nassau and Amber Cove. I didn't feel safe at times. The Carnival Magic was very good and had a lot to offer. Anyone could find something you would like to do each day.
Embarkation

This process was very thorough and quick. The staff was very helpful as we moved through the different stations.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The drinks were great but the food lacked in desirability. My husband stated the coffee was the best he has had. The ship buffet food was bland and didn't offer a variety of food during the off dining times. We did enjoy Guy's hamburgers and BBQ Smokehouse. The BlueIguana offered great food as well. These three restaurant offered the best quality and taste.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The ship offered spa, climbing obstacle, slide, mini golf, Foosball, basketball, a running track, billiards, beanbag toss, fitness equipment, sunset movies on the big screen, multiple whirlpools and swimming pools, etc. My husband and I only participated in the movies, and walking the upper deck during sunsets.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The music was good. The comedy show lacked in humor. The jokes and material was old and we were a little disappointed.
Children's Programs
This trip was only about my husband and me.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The ship's staff were very courteous and helpful. The room steward, I Komang, was superior. He went far beyond our expectations when it came to our needs in the cabin. The first night my husband asked for an ice bucket because he likes to suck on ice cubes at night. Each and every day we checked the ice bucket was full of fresh ice. He always gave us extra towels even though we didn't request them. He also made a point to speak to us each day as we passed him in the halls. Great steward!
Ship Quality

My complaint with the layout was there were some levels you couldn't access from the forward to the aft. The dining halls were also a problem. We didn't eat in the dining rooms due to the awful smell or odor from the carpet. There were food stains from spills that were obviously old thus causing the odor issue.
Cabin / Stateroom

Our cabin was great. It was located mid-ship which helped for a smooth ride. I get motion sickness very easy so this was a great location. The room was a good size with a great balcony. The only complaint was the bed was not comfortable. My husband had to sleep on the sofa in order to sleep and wake up without a backache. I endured the bed, but tossed a lot each night.
No excursion. This port was a culture shock. It was okay to do some shopping once you get past the AGGRESSIVE islanders. They were as some points very rude.
Yes, we took a taxi on a personal tour of the island. The driver was courteous, but drove like a crazy man. The island doesn't obey any type of traffic laws. This is not advised for anyone with a heart condition. We were taken advantage of at a small secluded beach by the locals. Six dollars just to sit our towels on a lounge chair. $4 for a small bottle water. The local shops owners were very aggressive trying to get you to buy their merchandise or eat their food. My advice would be to stay on the port side of the security gate!
Beautiful island! Complete opposite of Nassau, and Amber Cove. The people were very friendly and welcoming and there was no aggressiveness from the shop keepers. We went snorkeling which was a great. The crew were very friendly, funny, and accommodating. The beaches are gorgeous and we even snorkeled from the main beach afterwards. I would have enjoyed more time at this port.
Too easy! We chose to take our own luggage off the ship which prevented any delays in our departure. From the time we left our cabin to reaching our vehicle in the garage took a total of 7 minutes, wow! The staff was very courteous and full of smiles.
