Review summary

This was our first cruise with Carnival.  We chose this cruise because of the locations and for the positive reviews for the Carnival Magic.  The cruise director, Dr. E was very talented and entertaining.  He really kept the entertainment going.  He seemed to be everywhere and involved in everything from morning announcements, afternoons by the pool,  the MC for the nightly shows and a really funny DJ.  All of the staff was very pleasant.  Our favorite poolside bartenders were Ravy and Kahun.  We had a balcony room on level 6 and it was much roomier than we had anticipated.  You could hear the people next to you on their balcony but I think that was to be expected.  The only downfall of the room was that the bathroom floor would be soaked every time we took a shower because the shower curtain wasn't long enough.  They supply shampoo and soap but no conditioner or lotion so bring your own.  Our daughters had a second room on 6 in the interior.  They also had plenty of room.  The only thing is that they were below the casino and it was a bit loud if they wanted to go to bed early. The food was very good.  We had anytime dining and really didn't ever have to wait long.  Most times we walked right in and were seated.  We didn't feel a need to pay the extra and go to one of the specialty restaurants because the choices and food were good in the main dining area.  The pizza place is open all the time.  The one thing I would have liked to see is one more place other than pizza that would be open all the time for snacks like nachos and wings.  We did a couple excursions.  We did the resort for a day at the British Colonial Hilton.  It was pleasant, the beach was small but nice but it was a little boring.  I think if we were to do it again, we may have done a quick shopping or public beach and then just stayed on the ship.  We did the Deluxe Catamaran in the Dominican and that was a lot of fun.  The crew was great, the lunch was good and the drinks kept flowing.  Turks and Caicos was our favorite beach.  We hung out at Jack's Shack.  The beach was gorgeous.  Overall it was a great trip, there is plenty to do, the shows were good and you have the option to do nothing at all.

Ship tip

If you have to get off the ship early for debarkation, the dining buffet is open early or you can order room service. If you purchase the drink package, it includes bottled water so ask for it in the dining room and they will give you a big bottle which you can bring back to your room.
