Review summary

Thus was our first Carnival cruise as Platinum status and embarkation was very good at Port Canaveral, FL. Straight on board and our balcony State room was ready at 10.30am.  It did take my case 5 hours to reach me,  long after the rest of our family even though it had priority tags on.  We tried to get dinning together for our family if 10 on Carnival web site but it was not available.  We went to the Maitre D at 4 pm on embarkation and was the first request to be re seated it could not be done,  so we sat at 3 different tables in the dinning room,  the next day we got seated at 2 4 person booths with an extra chair closer to each other,  not satisfactory and told the Maitre D so.  So much for priority seating for Platinum members,  10 person tables sat empty at every seating.   Service in the dining room was bad at the best of times and 4 children we had with us had to wait over an hour for a hot dog or pizza,  while other tables had finished and left.   It was Thanksgiving and we had 1100 children on board,  which made the staff overworked and not happy,  we could tell.

On a plus side our state room was nice and we got great service from our cabin steward,  the children loved the water park,  mini golf and big screen movies.  The shows were just OK,  not as good as previous Carnival shows we have been seen.

food was just OK,  and I didn't appreciate the gristly steak for our thanksgiving dinner and 3 of our party were sick all night long and on the way home.  Debarkations was extremely good too as we were first off.

We have a cruise on Carnival booked for February or I'd be rethinking,  maybe they will redeem themselves.

All 10 of us are looking forward to cruising on Norwegian in the Mediterranean next June too.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
The buffet food was quite normal buffet food, but the dinning room main dinners needed much improvement. Maitre D was apoling and after several requests we were denied any results. Our family had separate table for Thanksgiving, while couples sat with strangers, as we did the first night.

Onboard Activities

Kids loved the water park most of all.

My grandchildren did not use after the first day as other children were mean.

Nice State room, and the steward AGUS was excellent, he remembered us from our last Carnival cruise on the Pride as he was our steward, what a coincidence.

Ship tip
