Review summary

This is my eighth cruise, but my first time on Carnival.  Carnival states their dress code everywhere, however, they don't reinforce it.  During both formal nights,  there were so many people in the main dining room with shorts, t-shirts, flip flops, boots and hats on (men & women).   Not only that, I paid extra for a spa cabin giving me unlimited access to the spa facilities.  More times than not, the staff witnessed people sneaking into the mineral pool by opening the door from the inside, which is only accessed by room key (spa guests or parole who purchased a pass) and letting their friends in; 9 at one time.  With that many, people who actually paid could not use the pool.  Not Cool!  On another note, Carnival entices you with the variety of food choices (Guy Fieri's Pig & Anchor BBQ) only to find out that it was only open on two days (sea days) for only 2 1/2 hours each time).  In my opinion, that's not enough time for everyone on the boat to eat there once and I had to wait on line for 35 minutes.  After I ate, I wanted more, only to look up and see that a staff member had closed the line.  What!!!!  I never.  It would have been better if it was a featured theme night in the buffet or made it a specialty restaurant. They had more food left when they closed the line, so what happened to the food?

All in all, I'll have to think twice about taking Carnival again.

Although, there seemed to be more floor space between both beds, there's no couch, chair or table which would have come in handy if you wanted to order room service. No storage drawer in night stands???

Get over yourself. How does anyone else's attire affect you?

Eagleeyepcs    8 years ago

Who is confusing the 2?

cruisercal    8 years ago

People are confusing guys BBQ and guys burgers

There are so many food choices on the ship, having Guy's Pig & Anchor only on sea days wasn't a deal breaker, or a secret, they explain that on Carnival's website.  I too love the elegant evenings! One family didn't dress up at our table; after seeing everyone else, they said they wish they had.  No one was in total beach wear or anything, but there were quite a few in the MDR that were less than elegant. We had a great time, our table mates were a fun group!

I think that she's referring to Guys Pig & Anchor, not Guys Burger, it states on the Carnival website that it's only open on sea days for lunch; it's her on fault that she didn't research that beforehand.  As to the dress code, I used to let that bother me but then I realized that life is too short to care about that crap!!  We like to dress for dinner every night, what others wear us up to them!  Negative people like this woman should just stick to other lines

Eagleeyepcs    8 years ago

Actually...I just went and looked and my current cruise and my last is listed...it's been awhile since I edited it, but your right...anyone can add a bunch of cruises....dosent mean anything!

Heights    8 years ago

Exactly. I update mine because I enjoy the counter, it's also quicker to access when sharing my cruise information with others. But to think that those lists are the absolute grading scale is crazy, especially since we all know we don't have to show proof before adding a past cruise or any cruise to the list.

Eagleeyepcs    8 years ago

I personally come in here to get/give information and to share my addiction (lol) with others. I don't even post my future or past cruises on my profile. I already know where I have been and where I'm going...don't need to prove it lol

Heights    8 years ago

Wait...you guys really take these lists "serious"? Anyone can log in right now and add 31 "past cruises", will that make their opinions "more valid"?

chrisjocpa2014    8 years ago

Gotta love it when someone says they have been on multiply cruises, then you check their profile and they dont seem to have any past cruises listed...

Please sir can I have some more Oliver

bkdorn    8 years ago

I dress business attire for my work week, but I still moan after 35 cruises .

Eagleeyepcs    8 years ago

@bkdorn...your right it usually isn't enforced by carnival....just enforced by your wife lol! I tell my husband I would like him to dress up with me too and he usually dosent complain too much.

bkdorn    8 years ago

My wife forces me to dress up elegant night but she enjoys it I would prefer to wear something else but she told me this is dress code rules so I abide by them, but then , it's not an enforced rule.

ClouseTravel    8 years ago

Guy's Burger and Guys BBQ are different. Burger open entire length of cruise. BBQ on sea days as they grill outside

bkolar81    8 years ago

If we decide not to dress up on elegant night we just go to the buffet instead of bothering the people who did in the dining hall.

blood94    8 years ago

Exactly. My wife and I don't get to dress up very much so when we go to main dining we always dress up on cruises. It's a personal thing that WE want to do. Who cares about anyone else

Eagleeyepcs    8 years ago

I, also could not care less how people dress in MDR. My family dresses up every night (not formal formal, but nice) but I don't care... Nor do I even look... At what the people at the other tables are wearing. To each his own.

sherry71    8 years ago

I could care less how people want to dress... I'm there to have a good time and plan on dressing elegant every night. It's my vacation and no one is going to ruin that because they wanna be in shorts that night. I guess you can't please everyone!

debbmike    8 years ago

I agree with you about the dress code. Shame on Carnival for not enforcing their own rules and shame on you if you don't abide by them.

Eagleeyepcs    8 years ago

Guy burgers is open everyday till around 6,,,,,but Guys pig and anchor is only open from like noon to 2:30

jallaway    8 years ago

I'm not really sure what cruise elegant night is all about anymore. Their customers have a right to complain when they tell them there will be a fancy dress up night with rules - and then they don't enforce those rules. Don't forget their are some that would walk around nekkid on the ship if they could get away with it.

Loispaul    8 years ago

I agree 100%, if you don't want to dress up on formal nights you shouldn't have to. Carnival should disband a dress code since they won't enforce it anyway.

Heights    8 years ago

Well formal night is more for picture taking throughout the ship with the photographers. Notice the backgrounds are a lot fancier as opposed to the other nights.

gjsmith030342    8 years ago

I agree that what others wear should not affect our cruise, but if Carnival is not requiring that all adhere to the dress code requirements, then dispense with the "formal" nights just have fun dinners every night. Why bring "formal" wear when it is not necessary. If there are those who want to celebrate something special and want to dress for the occasion, then certainly allow that but don't make it a listed requirement for all travelers.

Heights    8 years ago

Cruised on the Magic this past August, Guy's was open everyday, and until 6pm if I do remember correctly. Dress code complaint? Just sit down, enjoy this time with your family and eat. Not sure why another person's outfit bothers you.

Xena22    8 years ago

Jeez do you really care how other people dress? How does it affect you? How does it affect your food or service!? I agree the BBQ should be open more for sure but if you let how others are dressed and the BBQ not open long enough ruin your cruise you need a different vacation

allofus12345    8 years ago

Boots? In the dining room on formal night? Say it isn't so. ;) Its a Texas thing.

bkolar81    8 years ago

What was the length of your cruise? The last 7 day we went on Guys was open everyday. Also we have never experienced any issue with the spa thermal suites or pool. I would have surely complained to the staff members if they were not suppose to be there. We have never seen more than 2 to 3 people in the pool when we are there.
