Not likely because they check your boarding passes as you go along in the process. Doesn’t hurt to ask when you arrive at the port.

Due to Covid precautions ports have been pretty strict about your Arrival Appointment times, especially if you have any unvaccinated person in your cabin that needs at the embarkation day testing. It will be easier for you to arrive as "late" to check-in at the same time as your friends have.

Think they should board at their scheduled time. They shouldn’t be slowing someone else down who is there to board at THEIR scheduled time.

they likely won't stop them from boarding with you. they give times to speed up the process, and turning people back for boarding early would just slow them down. my brother in law and his girlfriend boarded with us in dec. 2019, and their time was an hour later.
