The way the safety briefing was conducted was a low point for me. The rest of the cruise was much better. Our cruise director NoNo was loads of energy and fun. Our cabin steward Ordin was incredibly warm and welcoming each day. The activities were well executed, the shows are quite entertaining and there is always food to eat. Premium beverages need to be sold nearer to where food is served. Overall, it’s a good cruise if you’re looking for a party atmosphere.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Getting onto the ship was easy. The staff was friendly and very welcoming.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food was pretty good but the main dining rooms were consistently overwhelmed with the volume of passengers. Long lines and beverages from the fountain were awful. Most times only tea and water were available. Soft drinks are sold on a different deck than most of the restaurants. A big inconvenience.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
The pools were smaller than expected. Always full. Again, not adequate for the number of passengers on board. There is a variety of activities for all age groups.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
They have a very talented performers and entertaining shows with great stage lighting and props. The singers were good but often not matched with the right songs for their voices.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
For the safety briefing, the crew crowded the passengers like sardines into a confined space in humid 90+ degrees heat. We were forced to wait in these conditions for almost half an hour while each cabin’s key cards were scanned for mandatory attendance compliance. Only to watch a crew member demonstrate putting on a life vest. This just about spoiled the cruise for me.
Our room steward Ordin was great. He personally introduced himself at the beginning of the cruise, remember our names, and maintained a genuine smile on his face always. He was very hospitable and accommodating.
The buffet dining hall attendants seemed underprepared for the volume of passengers that frequented their areas. They generally seemed unhappy and unfriendly.
The restaurant wait staff were much better but I didn’t appreciate being assigned seats for my wife and I at a small table with another random couple. Awkward.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship’s layout can be rather confusing, but they have maps posted near all elevators/stairs with a “you are here” indicator. That is a big help.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
The cabin is a comfortable size and the bed was comfy. The balcony view is well worth the upgrade. However, our room was lacking in cleanliness. The sofa bore dirt stains all over. There was dust accumulated in the floor corners, handprints on mirrors and glass doors, fingernail clippings from previous passengers on the balcony floor. The room had a slight musty smell, like it hadn’t been deep cleaned in a while. For peace of mind you may want to bring your own sanitizer.
Ship tip
Bring your own soft drinks. Each passenger can bring a pack of sodas. The beverage selection included is limited at best.
Parking at the port is convenient and fairly priced. Don’t confuse Port Canaveral Parking with Park Port Canaveral though. The latter is off-premises parking with substandard shuttle service.
Plenty to do in Nassau. The excursions purchased through the cruise line can be expensive but they come with certain assurances. If you’re good at researching and planning, paying-as-you-go through local vendors can result in significant savings.
We didn’t budget enough to do excursions through the cruise line in Freeport. They were generally more costly than the Nassau excursions. We did our own excursion. We took a cab ($7 round trip) to Taino Beach. The Stoned Crab Restaurant grants beach access for $5. You can get beach lounge chairs with umbrella on the beach. The food is delish!!! They have all sorts of water activities available for all ages. My wife and I loved it!! And we didn’t have to spend much at all.
For some reason, disembarkation took much longer than expected. We chose Express Debarkation but our deck (#8) wasn’t cleared until well after 3 hours into the process. Once we headed down, everything else was smooth.
