Review summary

This cruise was my first with Carnival and the first in 44 years. I enjoyed my time on the boat and ashore. The people we met were great. The cruise staff were well chosen and wonderful to be around.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
There was a lot of congestion and an hour and a half wait to get to rooms. Our medical carry-on was very heavy due to diabetes supplies.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Great!! The food was excellent, the wait staff superb. The portions were of a great size and the buffet always had a nice variety of food from which to select. The hamburgers were a little heavy, but the deli sandwiches were excellent.

Onboard Activities

We utilized the pool, and putt putt it was a wonderful time no burn just glow.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We attended several shows and were special guest with 2 other couples on Love and Marriage. The morning show with Cookie, JJ and Kat was excellent, Flickr was amazing, but my favorite was Rock America.

Children's Programs

No children, just husband and me.

Service and Staff

Cookie was the greatest as a cruise director, I don't feel anyone can ever live up to his standard of fun, but you do have great taste in selecting staff. Kat and JJ were also excellent in assisting him with the Fun Team. Our wait staff of Lizette Murguia Narvarro, Ni Komang Triani and Junasha Burke went over and beyond to make our dining experience both enjoyabe and made us feel welcome and special each night. Donna, our room steward and her staff were always nearby and kept our room very clean and were very friendly when we met in the hallways. She also made us feel very special. I met no one on this ship who was anything other than friendly and ready to make our experience the best. Your choices for this cruise were superb and I wish there was a higher ranking than 5. They went over the top.

Ship Quality

A nice map of which elevators and floors were totally accessible would have helped. Like when we took the elevators closest to our room to the 3rd floor, we could not access the rest of the ship. The common areas were very clean and well-maintained, the bathrooms were always neat and completely stocked on each deck. The lobby, theaters, showrooms and casino were all kept clean and all tables cleared after someone finished their drinks and snacks. The ship was really a great place to be.

Cabin / Stateroom

The bed could have used a strip between the 2 twin mattresses to make the join less noticeable. I would also have like at least one more double US plug for charging, as we had 2 phones, a smart watch, a battery charger for my camera and a laptop. We played juggle the chargers, but we were able to keep everything working with little inconveniences.

Ship tip

Always purchase your excursions through Carnival, the others are often hard to figure out where to meet your party. And take very little carry-on luggage, unless you are prepared to hold things for longer periods of time.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

I didn't do and excursion here, this was a embarkation and debarkation port.

Nassau, Bahamas

I loved the area. Had been here 44 years ago on a cruise and it had changed so greatly. I missed the way the street vendors were aligned then. I went on a tour of Nassau that included a stop at the Atlantis. The tour could have been more stops and less talk, but it was good. Our guide was very informative of the island life and the way they have lived over the reign of the British, their independence and earlier life. He stopped at an herbal tea store that told of the medicinal uses of many teas. He explained their hospital systems and more.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

5 out of 5
It was a great location to visit. The people were friendly. Again, we took an excursion to tour the island and visit the Garden of the Groves. Our bus and tour guides were again, very informative and talked about all the things the used trees to help.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
The disembarkation was a disaster. The lines were long ,the people were grouchy, they seemed to feel that you were wasting your time. After all the warm greetings of the islands, it was hard to come back to such rude and hateful people at the customs office.
