A great family vacation

Sail Date: March 22, 2015

Reviewed: 2 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Oceanview

A very memorable family vacation. The staterooms were nicer and larger than expected and the food was delicious and plentiful.

My only suggestions would be to have more for the kids to do. We did not want to drop off the 2-year-old granddaughter at the Camp Carnival, but instead wanted a place we could take her to watch her play. An open play area with toys and books would have been wonderful and a small toddler pool/splash area would have been great. The older grandsons seemed to find enough to do. They liked the fitness room, the miniature golf and other activities.

Ship Quality
Very pleased with quality.
Food and Dining
Outstanding dining and service. Our waiters, Dimo and Bryan were outstanding.
Cabin / Stateroom
Richard provided us outstanding service. Thank you.
Service and Staff
Dimo and Bryan, our dining staff, were outstanding, as was Richard, for our cabin. All others were friendly and excellent.
Children's Programs
Please don't exclude family from Camp Carnival or have an open place to play with kids. We wanted to be able to have Sofia, 2, have some toys to play with, but did not want to leave her by herself at Camp Carnival.
Onboard Activities
Lots of good stuff. The older grandkids loved the trivia and other games. They tried their best to win a trophy, but didn't quite make it.
Destinations and Excursions
Loved all the destinations, especially Tortola and The Baths.
Port Canaveral, Florida
Stayed at the Days Inn. Good price and right next to the beach, which was a great way to start our vacation!
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
We went snorkeling and it was the first time to the grandsons. They loved the turtles! Watch out for the sun while snorkeling. We all got badly sunburned.
Basseterre, St. Kitts
Orient Beach is a must! Loved the parasailing and jumping off the water trampoline. Spent the extra money to get an umbrella.
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
Took a day trip with a private company, which was great. Saw a lot of the island, had a picnic lunch at a beach and even got some swimming in.
Tortola, British Virgin Islands
A trip to The Baths is a must. Was breathtaking.
San Juan, Puerto Rico
Hiked the rainforest and swan under a waterfall. Rent van from Charlie's, which picked shuttled us from the cruise ship and then to the airport.

Take your own bottled water on the ship so you always have some to drink in your stateroom. For the little bit extra, get at least a room with an ocean view. They are larger and you will love the view. For a late snack, get the buffet before it closes at night and get a bowl of fruit.
