Review summary

Great cruise, friendly staff, food wonderful but non-memorable.  Dining room service rushed, but friendly.   Not sure if they had enough staff to give the individual attention we've received on other cruiselines. Menu and food in the dining room was good (how can you complain about cruise food?), but not the 5 star, unique menu that we've seen on other cruise lines, and definitly not the level of service.    Hard working, friendly staff.  Staterooms larger than any other cruise we've been on, especially bathrooms.  Lots of parties on deck.  Service good throughout ship from all staff.  Drinks expensive at $9 a pop plus tip, beers 6 bucks. They definitely pushed the drinking moreso than on any other cruise we've been on.   But that's to be expected.   We were most disappointed with the entertainment.  Pre-cruise expectations gave the entertainment high marks, but we weren't impressed, with the exception of the ventrilaquist (sp?), dancers and choreography.  The lead singers were weak, at best.  Shows average at best, and definitely not up to Disney, Celebrity or Princess quality, not that we're experts, but we've done a few cruises on each of those lines, this was our first Carnival cruise.  No religious services scheduled on this cruise, as we've seen on some which was nice. The cruise definitely caters to a different crowd than does Celebrity or Carnival, I'll leave it at that -- you can figure out what that means.   Overall a fun, nice cruise with no real issues -- great value for the money, but there is a reason Carnival is cheaper from what we can tell.  But I don't think that would stop us from going again....as it really was wonderful -- just a bit different from others we've been on.
