Review summary

This was our first experience at cruising, and the Carnival team made it a very positive experience. The staff ore the golden mine of this business. They were always available to assist, provide a smile, and excellent service. A variety of food was readily available, and for the most part, of very good quality. The debarkation/embarkation at various ports of call was handled quickly and efficiently. The entertainment was a little weak, so we ended up not attending many of the "opportunities". The biggest downside was the surprise that a soda or a bottle of water was not included in the price. Even though coffee and tea were free and always available, they were both instant and poor quality. Also, some of the activities, like billiards or putt-putt golf required equipment rental. These things together felt like I was being being milked for every extra cent. We successfully resisted the constant bombardment of ways to spend more money every day with Carnival; which led to a less satisfying cruise experience. We expected to be harassed by locals in ports of call, but we pressured even more on the ship. We spent the extra $30/person to eat in the Golden Fleece steak house on board for our anniversary. The food was extremely well done, and the wait staff was top of the line.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Most of the time the food was very good quality and in good supply. Beverages were the lowest point of the whole trip. Instant coffee and tea were free and always available. Sodas, bottled water, and alcohol were additional cost. WE chose the early dining hour and the food was always very good with a nice variety to choose from each evening.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Not really enthused with the entertainment options. We looked in on an adult comedian show. He was very vulgar, and not really all that funny. Hardly anyone laughed, though a few were smiling. We left after about 15 minutes and did not partake in any of the other options.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Every staff member we came in contact with seemed to genuinely care about our needs. Their customer service training must be of the highest standards!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was in very good condition, and the crew was conspicuously cleaning and maintaining it constantly.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The stateroom was in good condition, and was cleaned twice a day! I particularly liked the TV with the channel that showed the location of the ship.

Ports of call

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

This was a beautiful but small island. The beach was beautiful and everything was clean and relaxing. We enjoyed the time we spent here.
Don't Miss: None

Cozumel, Mexico

We took the tour to the ruins...waste of time and money. If you do take it, PLEASE pay the extra $1 to the vendors and get sprayed with OFF. The mosquitoes will eat you alive. Finally ended up eating at Margaritaville, the only bright spot of this stop.
Don't Miss: None

George Town, Grand Cayman

Took a taxi to 7-Mile beach. This beach was the best we saw on the whole trip. The island was also the best stop of the whole trip. I would have traded extra time from Cozumel and Belize City to stay here a few days.
Don't Miss: 7-Mile Beach

Belize City, Belize

Not worth getting off the ship to see. After fighting through the gauntlet of vendors, taxi drivers, etc., there was nothing but poverty and filth.
Don't Miss: Staying on the ship

Pros: The staff were phenomenally helpful and friendly

Cons: Paying for sodas and bottled water
