Ship: Carnival Legend

Cabin type: Balcony

Review summary

The ship decor was a little worn, showed it's age some. It was fairly well marked and easy to get around, variety of indoor and outdoor public areas was good. Smoking seemed to be allowed in many spots, which I did not appreciate.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Lots of good options, some 24 hour. Room service menu was very limited, and formal dining room was very brightly lit and lacked atmosphere for that reason.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Although we didn't partake in all activities, there certainly seemed to be a variety to choose from.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Generally great staff, from our formal dining waiter to the photography staff to the entertainers. A few of our favorites knew our group of 8 by name within the first few days of cruising.

Ship Quality

Clean but a bit worn

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Much bigger than expected for a cruise ship room (we did have a balcony room though, which was very nice). Always cleaned well.

Ports of call

Belize City, Belize

5 out of 5
Didn't visit the port city, went snorkeling at the barrier reef, which was gorgeous - plenty of fish and coral to be seen. Took a boat straight from the cruise line to the snorkel site. Our travel companions went to Belize, and said it was disappointing. Unless you were on a paid excursion through Carnival, you could not leave the compound that had the same shops as any other port.
Don't Miss: Barrier reef snorkeling

George Town, Grand Cayman

We wandered around this port shopping, headed into some of the more local areas. No a lot of pressure or harassment from locals, as you see in some ports.

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
We took a taxi to a free public beach, which had lovely water, plenty of activities to do if you wanted, a bar/restaurant and shops. Though not an "official" Carnival excursion, it was quite nice.
Don't Miss: Mr. Sanchos beach (I'm pretty sure that was the name of the beach)

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
The girls rented a cabana on Mahogany Bay beach, which was so great - well worth the rental fee. The boys golfed Black Pearl, and really enjoyed it.

Pros: Friendly staff, great activities

Cons: Ship is a ship a little outdated in decor and showing it's age, Truffles dining room lacked atmosphere
