Review summary

Fun cruise, we visited some beautiful sites. I would love to try a cruise where they spend a couple days in each location because it takes the first day to talk with locals and whatnot to decide what the best things to do are. The excursion options given by Carnival are good. However, nothing competes with finding your own shore side trips with local info and guides.

Nice port. Nice free beach on the west side if you don't need a chair and umbrella. Just grab a taxi there and back. Nice snorkeling right off the beach here too (as well as local guides offering banana boating, snorkeling, and fishing for good prices). Should be able to find a ride there and back for around 10 bucks although they will ask for much more initially (25-30 USD usually).

Ok port. If you go to the Mayan ruins make sure you grab a meal at "Mr. Frosties". Great Mexican meal (if you like spicy salsa) for only seven bucks.
