Review summary

As a Gold Member I was given no incentives no discounts no nothing. Paid full price even for my 4 year old had to pay $1000 to get him on this ship. If this continues I might break loyalty and jump to Royal Caribbean what's the point of loyalty if you give discounts to new people but not me your loyal gold member. And Carnival do something about the Marijuana getting on the ship it's out of control. And the children and teens running wild pushing old folk and terrorizing the elevators. Packs of teens in elevators going up and down closing doors on passengers for fun..... Bigger ships are not better stick to Vista or Dream class.

Embarkation

Very fast efficient embarkation Galveston did a great job I'm surprised.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The main dish jubilee recommended on cucina del capitano with the mussles and pasta got me sick for 3 days good thing it was a 7 day cruise so my whole trip was not ruined. Stay away from that restaurant rude service very crowded sub par food. Everything else was great especially the staff in every other restaurant except cucina del capitano.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
They just made the rooms smaller and hallways bigger.... theater was horrible design looked like a college classroom.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Should be considered Obstructed view a HUGE piece of steel blocks your entire view of the water. Your basically looking at rusty white metal roof. Should be cheaper no way should this be 1k a person

Ship tip

Don't eat at cucina del capitano. Wear good walking shoes.

Every ship is different. Do your research. There is always specials for your 3rd guest but not every cruise. Every cruise can be a great time, you just have to have an open mind. Thanks for sharing

Tip; In the future, look at the deck maps to see what is above and below your cabin before you book. It looks like you were literally on top of the ChiBang Restaurant. Its roof is what you saw when you looked down. Based off of the picture you provided in the review, it looks like you had a clear view if you didn’t look directly below you. As such they won’t consider that an “obstructed view”. As far as discounts go, these are not based off of loyalty status. I am Platinum and rarely receive a noticeable discount. I’m assuming your 4 year old was the third guest in the room. Usually third and fourth guests (regardless of age) are at a discounted rate but not always. Where this sailing was in the Newest ship, in a peak season. The fairs are always higher. My third guest in my upcoming sailing on Jubilee cost $560 for their fair without gratuities. Hope you have better luck in the future.

Newer ships are more expensive.

Sail the Jubilee this past July, and the 3rd person in the cabin was $700, and he was a two year old. As someone mentioned, perks are better for those who play in the Casino. Even as a gold member, my wife and I have received cruises for $200 a piece on the Mardi Gras and the Vista. We're sailing a 7 day out of New Orleans on the Liberty for $400. Older ship, but it's still a good price, and this is from Casino play.

You have taken 5 cruises with Carnival and you expect to be treated like royalty? That's not going to happen, whether it be Carnival or any other cruise line. You need to take around 10 cruises before you start getting the better perks, unless you cruise as a single and get double points. I'm assuming you booked this cruise, so you knew price ahead of time, so it's up to you if price is right for that ship and cruise. Newer ships are always more expensive than the older ships.

If you paid $1000 for a four year old, you got ripped off.

Sorry you were disappointed with parts of your cruise.

TiffyTaffy     3 months ago

All newer ships will be at a higher price tag. At least you know this ship isn’t for you. Glad you recovered from the food ordeal.

Kracka     3 months ago

If it was too expensive, you didn't have to book it... Plenty of other ships, sailings, etc. You sailed on Carnival's newest ship, which are typically priced accordingly.

The discounts are not based on your loyalty level, it’s based on your play in the casinos. We are platinum members and get better discounts than Diamond members with little to no casino play. We sail Royal Caribbean also, will be no different.
