The ships has some kinks to work out but it was still a good cruise. I’ll try the Jubilee again in a year or two. Kendall Fire is an awesome CD. She was everywhere at all times and with her humor and energy, it’s hard not to have a good time.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Embarkation was a little chaotic. People were everywhere creating lines that didn’t exist and the port staff were overwhelmed. At the back end of the waiting area the speakers were not working so those with C boarding group could not hear anything and there was no one around to help give instructions or clarification. Otherwise we got onboard without issue.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Drinks were great! I had no issue there. The main dining room and the other free establishments were struggling and therefore the food was a little below par. It wasn’t horrible but could have been much better. I do recognize the growing pains with the new staff onboard.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Lots of activities were available! Since this was a Christmas cruise they even had services and other Christmas activities.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
I was blown away by the Playlist Production. Awesome entertainers! I can’t say enough. I enjoyed every show! The Fiesta Production had me entranced 🤩
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The service and staff were great.. as per usual for Carnival. Kendall Fire was everywhere at all times lol. I think she had about 4-5 clones running around 😂.

Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin door was difficult to close. The room was a little small but we made it work for us.
Ship tip
There were a lot of things that were not working, broken and not working well. For example, the restroom doors are automated by a wave of the hand. Waving the hand to lock the single use door didn’t always locked the door. While standing in line near the theater I literally saw 3 individuals get walked in on while using the restroom. At one point someone stood guard while others were using the room. Please be patient and report all issues. They will need to repair some things.
We did the Mayan Gourmet experience through Carnival. This was great. We had a Mayan blessing before we began learning methods of Mayan cooking certain dishes. The food was great and there was plenty of food. We were given approximately seven different Mayan dishes and three Mayan waters. Everything was delicious. I definitely would try this again.
Chacchoben Ruins was the excursion we experienced in Costa Maya. We learned a lot about how the Mayans lived. We were able to visit four individual pyramid structures and their residential area.
Excursions done through Shipmate. Tour of Roatan via Creg and his crew. We were shown the town and given lots of information about the island and the islanders.
Sounds like overall it was a good cruise. We cruise on the Jubilee in May and can’t wait! We cruised on the Mardi Gras a couple years ago (and loved it), but there were many comments in the reviews same as yours with the automated bathroom doors! Sounds like a design flaw for sure.
Were the production shows new shows? We’ve seen all of the CCL shows multiple times, so we are ready for something new. We sail on Jubilee in April. Thank you for taking the time to post a review!
