Review summary

overall it was a great cruise. I would not do the scavenger hunt again, but everything else was great. This was my companion's first cruise and he was very surprised over how "first class" everything was

It was great. Highly recommend to to all of the pre-check in stuff from the cruise line -- It made checking in quick and painless We showed up before our appointment time, there were minimal lines and I think it took less than 1/2 hour to get onto the boat

Ship tip

definitely pay for the upgrade to the ocean view room. Having the window keeps everything in perspective. With an inside room it's very difficult to tell day from night

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

This was where the cruise began and ended. I did not know how large the port was. We ran into a few hiccups getting to the port but once we arrived it was "smooth sailing"

We did the scavenger hunt. The entire excursion was very disorganized and dependent on their non-existent internet connection. Upon getting off of the tender we were sent to multiple locations to rent a golf cart-- after getting to the proper place and waiting in line we were told that we didn't need a golf cart. Even with Verizon phone I got not get connected to the local wi-fi. After nearly 2 hours I finally paid for internet to get into the scavenger hunt. The first instruction was to go rent a golf cart. Upon doing so we realized that the internet only worked for about 2 blocks and cut out again. We would have to get the question. drive up into the hills. get the answer and go back to where we had an internet connection to answer the question and go back into the hills to for the next one. After the4 third question we kept getting a response that the answer was wrong even though it wasn't -- we quit after 6 out of the 21 questions because were were just too frustrated with the process. we left to go back to the ship shortly after

This tour was great, there were only 4 of us, a lot of beer from local small batch brewers and some awesome fish tacos! The driver and all of the artisans were super knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. OUr driver dropped us right back at the entrance to the port afterwards, making sure that we were safely back to the entrance
