I enjoyed so much! But highlight was Catalina. Having family together to celebrate my dad's 90 Birthday!! We had the best cabin steward, he loved my dad and was awesome! Food and entertainment were great! All good!! Fun times!

Go zip lining! I'm frightened of heights, can't climb a two feet latter. That after the first run I couldn't speak I was so scared. Don't understand it but I had best time. It was such a rush. Going zip lining in Hawaii on next cruise in March. Oh, and I'm 64 recovering from broken arm with a spiral fracture.

Thanks for the tips, we were planning the golf cart, so that's what we will do. Also planning to shop. Not brave enough to go zip lining.

When you book excursions thru Carnival, something happens to delay your return to the ship then the ship will wait for you. If you book on land, something goes wrong, you're on your own. That $50 you saved buying off ship now turns into -$300+ to get back to the states...replacing passport if you left it on the ship, trandportation, penalties. That being said, in all the 21+ cruises with Carnival on the Mexican Riviera Itinerary, I have never had amyone, or me, be late. However, when I was single & cruised with the guaranteed quad rate (no longer availanle), my 7th cruise with NCL, twice on my cruise to Cancún, Cozumel, Key West, my tour experienced delays & the shop had to wait for us. In Cancún, 5 hours for a bus tire to be flown in from Mexico City & the 2nd time for 3 hours to replace the bus. That was about 1982. But, as the child of a naturalized citizen ftom Mexico, I don't trust anything in that country.

There's not a lot, it's a cozy quaint island town. Hubby likes to walk around & buy summer clothes in Jan/Feb, winter clothes in Summer/fall. Good sales at "Bouys and Gulls" right on the main street. Aug 2015 I rented a 4 person golf cart from Catalina Island Golf Cart on line, 3 hrs for price of 2, they give you a map, perfect amount of time. Me, son, nephew 15, niece 10, we loved it. Spotting any nature is hit or miss, we saw a doe & her fawn. 😊 That trip we also did parasailing thru Carnival - I have a MC that gives me double points on Carnival purchases & I can redeem for onboard credits. Have used credits for $130 photo credit. Anyway, parasailing was awesome, I would do it again. I also did zip line on a previous cruise. ...fantastic. Would do again. Since Catalina is US, I will book off cruise if needed, i.e. golf carts not offered thru Carnival. However, out of the USA, I will book only thru Carnival.

Question for lakelady, what's your favorite to do in catalina? Going in January... didn't book any excursions, not sure I want to. Then again never been there and have no clue what to do.
