Carnival Horizon is a beautiful ship. I loved the layout, the decor, the design, the atrium, the staff, the activities and the Cruise Director Georgia. I really enjoyed my time on Horizon. I will sail on her again in the future.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
One of the fastest Embarkations I’ve experienced.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
MDR meals were good. Pizza was really good. Seafood Shack was really good. Pasta Bar was really good. Deli was disappointing. Guy’s burger was disappointing, but the fries were great. Blue Iguana was ok. Lido Marketplace buffet was ok. Pig and Anchor was so disappointing.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
I enjoyed the trivia, the night club and all of the parties (80’s Rock N Glow, White Night, Sail Away, Mega Deck, Rock The Promenade). I finally attended Carnival Quest for the first time. I enjoyed that. There was always something to do.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
I liked the DJs. The stage shows were lacking.
Children's Programs

This was my Daughter’s last time going to Club O2 (she’s17). She meet so many other teenagers and spent every night hanging out with them.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Our room steward was really nice. The MDR staff was nice. Georgia was great, Georgia is the Cruise Director. I was not happy with one staff member. It was a lady at the Red Frog Bar. She took mine and two other peoples Ship and Sail cards at one time, asked up what we all wanted, made our drinks and the put all three cards on the counter down from where I was standing. Someone took my card. I immediately went to Guests Services and got a new card and closed out my other one so the person who took my card couldn’t use it. The lady didn’t really apologize. She just shrugged her shoulders.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
I loved the design, decor and floor plan of the Horizon. Every area that I went on the ship was so clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
I loved our cabin. It was on the Spa Deck. Our room was the 3rd room down from the door that went out to the water slides. It was so quiet on our floor.
Ship tip
Learn about the elevator system before getting on the ship. It’s complicated. It will take a day or two to get use to it.
Port Miami is the best port. I live in Florida so I’ve sailed out of all of the ports and Tampa, Port Canaveral, Jacksonville and Ft. Lauderdale (no longer a port for Carnival) do not hold a candle to Miami’s port! The port view is breathtaking.
I visited Amber Cove, for the first time, in January and did an excursion in Puerto Plata so we stayed in the pool at the port this time around. The Amber Cove pool is bigger, but we had a better time at the port pool at La Romana. The Dominican Republic is beautiful.
