Review summary

We were extremely unhappy that Carnival waited until Less than 14 days to CHANGE the WHOLE ITINERARY!!! We specifically chose the cruise based on the Ports of Call. We understand that issues can arise while cruising and changes may be necessary, but to change EVERY PORT when a traveler has very limited options to make changes is disingenuous. In situations like this, Carnival should offer some type of compensation for having made a change of that magnitude. Yes, it's in the contract they can make changes, but with all the cruise companies available to travelers, you would think they would want to do something to make it right. I voiced this issue to multiple Carnival customer service reps and was given the standard line that "it's a difficult time.." blah blah blah. We really aren't sure if we'll travel with Carnival again.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Appointment times worked well and kept the lines moving to quickly board ship

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was generally good. Guy's Cheeseburgers were excellent and so was the outdoor pizza

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Comedians A-Train and Mike Delamont(?) were excellent.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
Service was not to the standard of the past. Barely ever saw our room steward, room was only serviced once a day, he did help when asked, but just wasn't around much. At the main dining room, wait staff didn't engage with us very much, we weren't asked if we wanted to order anything from the bar (and seeing other tables order bar service it took a long time). It was just not as enjoyable as our past experiences with Carnival.

Ship Quality

In normal cruising times that would definitely be absurd. I would not pick a sailing based on itinerary at least for another year right now tho. Ships are turned away the day of right now at the ports discretion. At least you had some notice to change plans in the ports you did get to go to. I know many people who were excited to go to Grand Cayman these past few months. Even though they were still booked to go, we knew it likely wasn't happening. The expectation has to be set that everything is up in the air right now. The cruise lines don't like to disappoint their guests, but itineraries, especially now, are subject to change.

I see where you are coming from. One of the reasons I booked my cruise was because I wanted To go Puerto Rico not only was it cancelled but now the ship is going to Nassau probably the last place I would have chosen but we will make the best of it

I understand your frustration totally. I believe that is what is going to happen to us next month. I’m dreading the email. Thank you for your feedback.

Any day on a cruise ship is better than a day at work...be thankful that we can cruise again🙏❤

Appreciate your feedback. I understand your frustration, but there is little that can be done about it. Glad you managed to enjoy your cruise anyway.

In this time with the pandemic, anything can happen with change of itinerary. This is not the time choosing a ship for the itinerary. During normal times ,if we ever get there, all should be much better. Grand Turk and Amber Cove are great ports. We've been twice to each and loved it.

Thanks for the review. Ports are never guaranteed and are missed for a variety of reasons, including weather, mechanical issues, political unrest, pandemics, etc. If a specific port is of extreme importance, always book a trip directly to that location rather than booking a cruise that may not actually make it to that port.
