Overall a good relaxing trip. Wanted a break from the normal grind, and from driving every day. Perfect vacation.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Quick and easy. Most done on line. Able to go directly to stateroom.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Main dining room was disappointing in both the service and food quality. Buffets were good, with lots of choices. The Pizza was incredible. Guy's Pig and Anchor was disappointing, in that food was over cooked, and had a burned taste. The specialty Italian restaurant was incredible, as was JiJi's. Had wonderful experiences at both venues.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
The library bar was quiet and peaceful for reading or a quiet glass of wine. The Superbowl party was a blast.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The production shows were incredible, and the Piano bar was a blast, lots of energy from the entertainer, and participation from all who went.
Children's Programs
No kids
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Room steward was great, the main dining room staff, Not so much
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
As always, the common areas were well maintained, and the ship was as spotless as it could be.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Balcony cabin. Cabin was clean and comfortable. Slightly smaller than I expected, but comfortable and quiet.
No excursion. Went shopping, had an OK time, was not impressed with the pushiness of some of the shop keepers, and was not happy with being exposed to pot smoke everywhere. (I am allergic to it.) This is not an area of Jamaica that I would choose to visit, as I am more interested in the history of the country, and this area has been built around tourist excursions.
I keep reading the dining room reviews and how the service is lacking. Food is lacking. I have to wonder if this is a push to purchase the specialty restaurants so that they get that money out of you?? Just my thoughts. Going on the Horizon in May with a party of 6. I hope the dining rm service is good for us.
Whenever we are in Jamaica we try to go on an excursion. If you don't, then yes pot smoke will be everywhere. It seems to be embedded in the culture there :). Nice review!
