Review summary

We are a couple in their 50’s excited about cruising on the Carnival Horizon. It was an amazing 8 day southern Caribbean vacation. Everything went very well. The ship is beautiful.

Embarkation

This was very well organized and people were moving quickly. I believe the entire time to get from parking lot to onboard the ship was 20 minutes!

Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse

Very classy and elegant setting. We decided to sit outdoors on the beautiful patio. Only 2 other couples were out there with us. Others chose the air-conditioned inside setting. The food was outstanding..we both had the Filet Mignon which were grilled to perfection. This was a little expensive I thought, it should have been $28 per person with tax and gratuity. My boyfriend thought is was a reasonable charge

Guy's Pig & Anchor BBQ Smokehouse Brewhouse

We had lunch here. Limited menu in an outdoor buffet. Had nice tables outside with shade, most opted to go inside with the Airconditioning. For dinner it’s ala-carte and would cost $$$

Guy's Burger Joint

Whatever they put in the there to make the burgers is FANTASTIC!! We truly have not had a better burger anywhere!!

The food was delicious. My boyfriend loved everything on the menu, I wasn’t very impressed and to me this restaurant should be included with the price you pay for your trip. There were never a lot of people in this restaurant. I think the $15 per person over what you pay for your cruise is what is keeping people away.

Services and staff were OUTSTANDING. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Our room steward (Kadet) was fantastic! Our cabin was always expertly done and any extras we asked for (pillows) he would go out of his way to get for us immediately! They all work so hard!! The Deli crew are worth a shout out! This place was ALWAYS busy and it seemed to be the same 2 crew members working day & night with a friendly attitude getting out orders quickly.

The ship was extremely clean and new! The crew was everywhere keeping it so clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

This is a balcony cabin in the front part of the ship. The rooms are getting smaller and smaller with the more people sailing on each ship! The cabin was very clean and new. The bedding was comfortable but we noticed the mattress was sagging a bit which is strange for a new ship.

Ship tip

Opt for anytime dining. You were able to get a table anytime from 5:30pm - 9:30pm with ease.

Ports of call

Oranjestad, Aruba

This was our favorite port!! Aruba is BEAUTIFUL! We took an open air bus from Carnival to Eagle Beach. The beach is absolutely GORGEOUS! Note: umbrella rental was between $25-$65, Chair rental was $8 each. We did not expect such a high rate for umbrellas which took most of our money taken with us off the ship.

You will have to book an excursion at this port. There is absolutely nothing to do right off the ship like other ports.

Our cruise director, Cookie, did a great job and disembarkation went quickly. Getting from cabin to shuttle to the airport was less than 20 minutes! GREAT JOB CARNIVAL!!
