We celebrated 25 yrs of marriage, a son who got engaged was with us, and another son who finished junior college also joined us to celebrate. Overall this was the best vacation I can remember with my family. These times are precious. The Horizon Ship was excellent overall with a few areas that could use some minor changes.( elevators?)
Huge bang for buck on this ship!👍👍

The food was excellent as always. Tomina Isabella (our server) was outstanding. She and her team made us 4 feel like they truly loved to wait on us. Simply the best servers we could ask for :)
Onboard Activities

We did a lot. My boys are 2 6’+ athletes so we played pool, ping pong, cornhole toss, basketball, worked out 5 times in the gym, road the sky ride, and did the high up ropes course, rode both the waterslides, got soaked and cooled off in the waterpark, and watched an IMAX!! ( Bohemian Rhapsody)
Entertainment

The stage performers for the ship were outstanding. I kept asking,”what are they doing here? I felt many could be recording artists. They were very, very good!
Comedians were very good too. The DJ’s has good, lively , energetic music playing always-good job team.
Children's Programs
My boys are 20 & 23 yrs old. We 4 hung together throughout the trip:)
Service and Staff

All was good. The only change we didn’t expect was wether we wanted our room made up in the morning or evening. On the past , our room was made up whenever we were gone for any length of time! It’s ok, but the degree of service dipped just a little here.No big deal but we can see how Carnival is “tightening the belt.”
Ship Quality

Ship design and layout was really good..........except the elevators?? A weird system that in theory makes sense but in reality didn’t meet our expectations:(. Sorry, it’s true. We heard a lot of people say the same , and take the stairs.

Ship tip
Download the Carnival App, and use it!!Play with it, get used to it , navigate through it, familiarize yourself with it , and USE IT. My boys mastered it for everything and our reservations went smoothly, and we looked at pictures taken, plus we knew when anything and everything was happening. Use the app !!
Cab ride to beach. Nice beach. Had a beer ( I test all the local beers) Snorkelling was 5/10. Too shallow , and they need to build an artificial reef to attract and keep more fish.( IMO ). Oh, and the pelicans were diving for fish right beside us!! Fun to watch:)
Did the Beach Hop and Turtle snorkel! Very good, very informative, and we Swam/snorkelled alongside 5 different turtles!! Water was super clear and only @ 10’ deep. Turtles were tame and although we didn’t touch them( just don’t!) we could’ve easily as they were tame and swam by us closely often:)
Our second beach was a private one. Rocky( bring water shoes unless you have tough feet. Snorkel to the left side. Walk to the left , enter the water and snorkel along the rocky edges of the beach.. I brought fish food and it was amazing. Hundreds of fish in many varieties surrounded us and delighted my boys and I. It was like being in a huge aquarium:)
Hint: Bring fish pellets in a ziplock bag, and bring smaller bags when snorkelling. Unzip the bags above water as the fish will try to eat the bag out of your hand under water. I kept my sealed bag tucked into my shortsleeved shirt.( To prevent sunburn)
We took a $7 cab ride to a beach on the left side of the island , quite always from the ship. Cabbie said it was the best snorkeling beach. He was right. $7 included the ride there, a small bottle of water , and a wifi puck to give us wifi for our phones. My boys caught up with the world after swimming and snorkeling. Snorkeling was very good again. Lots of variety. Search out rocks and swim to the edges of the beach for more fish. There was a bar, restaurant too.
Quick and easy, as we took our own bags off ourselves. We leave 1st btw, so if you need to get a rental car and drive someplace, or you need a taxi/Uber to the airport right away then carry your own bags off yourself. It’s the fastest way to disembark.
