Review summary

Everyone we spoke to was sick at some point from the food. When we spoke to staff they told us they hadn't restocked from the last trip and were trying to use the rest of what they had on board. My fiance had the worst food poisoning and had to receive medical attention. Everyone else had diarrhea that we spoke to including all those in our party. The port for la romana was terrible, a couple tents thrown up to sell things. The excursions were crazy overpriced just to go to a beach. The ports were very Americanized and sold stuff i could have purchased in NYC. On board the entertainment was repetitive and mediocre. Unless you're looking to party every night in a club atmosphere or have kids there isn't much to do. The pools were filthy and unkept. It was an experience, but not one I'd care to have again. This will probably be our first and last cruise, especially with carnival.

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! That cruise ship is overrated, bad customer service and Horrible all the way around! We just got home 3 days ago, my husband vomiting almost the entire time and I had diarrhea.... also they cramped SO MANY KIDS that everything was filthy! MY WORST CRUISE EVER

They restock every single cruise. I can not imagine staff ever saying they had not restocked from the last trip and were trying to use the rest of what they had onboard. Even if they have never restocked they would never tell the guests that. You can see them after every cruise restocking the ship. There is all different kinds of entertainment onboard. You’re the first person I have ever heard say there is nothing to do on a cruise. A cruise is what you make it. They drain the pools every night and refill them so every morning there is fresh clean water.

Sounds more like norovirus and not food poisoning (which is cause by people not washing their hands after they use the restroom and spreads like wild fire on a ship). We sailed on the Horizon in June with our family and had an excellent time. What other ports did you visit? Research prior to booking and sailing is essential and it doesn’t sound like you did any. Cruising is what you make of it and it doesn’t sound like it’s for you.
