Review summary

This was the best cruise that I have every been on. I have taken 11 previous cruises, not all on Carnival but this one does not compare. The passengers as well as the staff really made this cruise one that I will always remember. We met so many people. I do not really have anything negative to say about the cruise. I will say though, I did not like the setup of the Liquid Lounge. There has to be a better way to set up the theater. Also, the elevators took a little getting use to. Use of smart technology has taken over on the ship. We did not go to Puerto Rico because of the hurricane Florence but the entertainment "Fun Squad" did everything possible to make our extra day at sea fun. They certainly did succeed. The Captain was also excellent. He kept us informed of the progress of the storm and explained what we would be doing to not get stuck in it. He kept us safe and we did not even know that there was a storm at sea. One last thing, the ship is huge but once you learn your way around it, it is not so big. Overall, this was a great cruise and ship.

Embarkation

The process has changed from our last cruise. It was definitely better. The process was smooth and took very little time to board the ship. Tip - do not get there before your time of boarding. They will not let you on the ship until your boarding time. It was very strict.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was average but the Guy's burgers are a must for everyone.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There was so much to do on the ship that we had to pick and choose what to do. Sky ride is a must. Try and do it early as it may become crowded. Clue was fun as it was something that went on throughout the entire cruise. Also the deck parties and Atrium parties at night were exceptional.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows were fantastic especially the Celestial Strings show. The comedians were excellent. Quest is a must. The Love & Marriage Show was hysterical. The nighttime Atrium parties were so alive that you could not help but get involved. The dancers in the shows were excellent. Also the musicians around the ship were very good too.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was so friendly and was more than willing to help. Our waiters in the Meridian were excellent. Big shout out to Ben, AnaMaria and Nenad for making our dining experience memorable. The Fun Squad was unbelievable as far as their energy and getting to know the passengers. Thanks to Mike, the cruise director, Bradley, Lelehia, Alex, Cindi, Anthony, Ryan, Adele and Edward. Anyone who has them on their ship will be so lucky. Miss them already.

Ship Quality

Always saw the staff cleaning the hallways, stairs and decks. They really worked hard to keep the ship clean.

Grand Turk Island

1 out of 5
I have been to Grand Turk many times and was looking forward to just spending time on the beach. The beach was not clean, there was tons of seaweed that you had to swim over to get to clear water. Also, there are island people trying to charge for chairs and umbrellas which never happened before. Everyone needs to know that ONLY the chairs with green umbrellas are free. Also, the people try to sell you things by constantly walking around. Not the Grand Turk I have been to in previous years.

San Juan, Puerto Rico Did not visit port

We did not stop at this port because of Hurricane Florence.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

Loved this island. If one is looking for a tour to take to see the real feel of the island, you must take the Outback Adventure with Lunch. This was an unbelievable tour. You get to see just how the people of this island live. You are also provided drinks including alcohol throughout the tour. When you stop for lunch, it is all you can eat. The food was very good. Our tour guide Manny, was excellent. He went out of his way for all of us to make sure that we experienced the real culture of the island. This is a tour that is well worth the money.
