Review summary

Don't believe the negative opinions on the Glory & New Orleans. It is a great cruise port, one of our favorites. Food & entertainment in the Big Easy is second to none. The Glory is a great ship, very clean, good food, friendly staff. Get on down to Louisiana and go cruise!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
• Boarded at noon, practically walked on to the ship. Didn’t have to meet with a desk agent at all! • Luggage made it to the room quickly, completely unloaded clothes & gear by 2pm. • 2023 souvenir pins are really cool!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
o Steakhouse cancelled our table at 6:15pm for a 6:00pm reservation. Guest services wasn’t much help, all they did was suggest that we make a new reservation. We were admittedly late, but not late enough to automatically cancel our reservation. The hostess wasn’t accommodating in any way, and we find it hard to believe that someone slipped in to our table within 15 minutes. However, the Steakhouse called our cabin the next day to make amends for Sunday’s issue... We had a great dinner, we got our free bottle of wine, and we had a great dinner during the 2nd elegant night. o BBQ place was running out of pork on the 1st sea day, most tables in the deck 6 dining area had not been cleared, and they ran out of drinking cups. On the other hand, the BBQ chicken was delicious! o Typically long wait (30 minutes) for brunch & breakfast, but service was good & food was great!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
o Not too crowded on the pool deck, plenty of lounge chairs. Nice sunny & cool day at sea! o Fitness center wasn’t crowded early in the morning, no waiting for fitness equipment.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
o Welcome aboard show hasn’t changed in years. Same cruise director jokes & silly contests. Same terrible lip synced dancers, we can practically step up on stage and perform the routine from memory. Please Carnival, freshen up the entertainment! o For the first time on a CCL cruise, we saw a ?man? performing with the lobby band. Hoo boy, what a sight. You really want to go in that direction? I don't think the majority of your loyal customers will embrace this kind of move. o I have to make a positive comment about the entertainment on our final sea day. The seas were rough, so the “Epic Rock” show was going to be canceled. But the team performed the songs and did a limited singing & dancing show, which I thought was fantastic. The bad lip syncing was impossible, so everyone was forced to demonstrate their actual true singing talents. We really enjoyed it, best show we’ve seen in years.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
o Really annoyed that the diamond platinum party was scheduled at 5pm when guests aren’t back on board until 5:30pm… what the hell? We had to hurry straight to the party directly from the excursion. o Laundry service turned our clothes around in a day, excellent job!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
o We really like the layout of the Glory. I really don’t get the negative opinions.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
o Shower drain was clogged for the 2nd year on the Glory. Sink drained slowly as well. Our cabin steward Wahyu worked hard to get them fixed. Guest services following up the next day to make sure our bathroom issues were taken care of was really great.

Ship tip

• If you’re going to try & stay in shape while on the cruise, make sure you hit the gym & jogging track early in the morning when it opens. The fitness center isn’t normally crowded early in the morning, so no waiting for fitness equipment. The jogging track… man, it’s hard to say positive things other than I just enjoy taking a run at sea. But it’s a JOGGING TRACK… not a spread out with your spouse/friend and walk slow on the inside lanes track. I am 100% willing to share the track with walkers, but walkers should stay to the right & runners should stay to the left… and you don’t spread out wide so both runners & walkers have a tough time passing.

o Not enough time at the Grand Palladium! Got back to the ship several hours hours before setting sail!

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
o First water shuttle off the ship, no waiting in lines for platinum members. Also caught the last water shuttle back to the ship. o Warm & sunny day in Grand Cayman, and Seven Mile Beach was gorgeous! There were 4 ships docked, so the public beach was crowded. o No issues at all with public transportation, easy on & off from the bus depot to the beach. $5 for two adults one way. o Great shopping experience at Diamonds Intl for tanzanite! Chris, our shopping expert, along with Brenda, the sales manager, helped us pick out a new tanzanite ring & bracelet for a great deal. We were also able to pick up a smaller, nice tanzanite ring on special for $60! Great shopping experience in Grand Cayman!

Cozumel, Mexico

o No hurry to get to the Fury Catamaran tour since it started at 12:30pm, so we had a nice relaxing stroll through the Puerto Plata shopping area capped off with margaritas at Pancho’s Backyard. Way more adult than Fat Tuesday! o Wonderful time on the Fury Catamaran with cruisers & staff. It was a fun bunch! No food though, plenty of drinks. o The snorkeling with Fury, however, was uneventful. One stop, not much to see. We probably won’t do this excursion again, will stick to beach clubs in Cozumel.

Disembarkation

• Platinum priority debarking was fantastic, we even got off the ship early. The facial scan at customs is always super easy. • CCL staff were super helpful & communicated with us about getting off the ship. • Lots of grumpy platinum people getting to the gathering point super early to be the 1st off the ship. They don’t even try to get their luggage out of the way as others come in. We are seeing this more & more on debarkation day.
