Review summary

Too many cutbacks in areas that are important to us, crew overworked in many instances.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
They handled the back to back cruisers expeditiously.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Not only has the food quality taken a big hit, dining culture has taken an even bigger hit. Wait staff extremely busy, fewer of them plus they have to do their own bar service now.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Not sure where else to put this other than here: Premium internet worked 2 days out of 8. A good variety of activities… the steam room was actually steamy, so good. The fitness room had some nasty noise playing that the fitness instructor considered “music.” I asked him to perhaps consider his audience, the customers, and he just looked at me like, “Who the F are you?” Needless to say, he didn’t change it.

Entertainment

3 out of 5

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
They are working hard, but there are not enough of them.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Clean, in generally decent shape. The handrails in the stairwells have been cleaned so often with strong disinfectants that they are sticky. That’s kind of unpleasant.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Enough space, a few maintenance issues. Naively believed we would be in a quiet hallway and not have to deal with children running up and down. I was wrong.

Ship tip

Consider another cruise line.

Ports of call

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
They’ve put a lot of money and effort into this place, and it shows. This has turned into a really nice stop. Now, there is a lot of squalor just outside the campus when you leave on an excursion, but that’s true lots of places.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Always a winner.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

3 out of 5
The port is overwhelmed when 2 ships are there. When we were there, there were 4.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
The actual getting off the ship was smooth and quick. My complaint concerns what happened immediately prior. We did self assist and there was no way we were going to be able to get our bags downstairs on an elevator, and we were in the very first group. All the elevator lobbies were packed with people, made worse because Carnival shut off half the elevators in the forward area. If we had waited, we would still be there. Ended up carrying all the bags down the stairs… not a great start to the operation.

Did the crew member really insult you like that? I'm sure you would have reported him so what happened?

Cruising is definitely not the same as it was previously, and probably never will be again. As far as debarkation, it is now best to let the Cruise Line take care of your bags rather than trying self debarkation. It appears that more than half the people now, do you self debarkation, which causes major back ups.
