My husband and I wanted a quick get away. Even with the few issues, it was still a great time. I've never had a bad cruise - just some greater than others. Carnival is always friendly and fun.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
We had faster to the fun so this was super easy, but it seemed to be smooth and quick for everyone.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
We always eat in the main dining room every night. Out of 7 cruises, this was definitely the worst food I've had. It was "ok". Even the soups, which Carnival usually hits out if the park were blahhhh.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Quite a lot to do aboard, even though this is an older ship.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We saw 2 shows and 2 comedians. The musical shows were very good. Are they a bit cheesy? Yes, but still a very good time. Lots of good songs everyone could sing along to.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Our room steward (Ali) was wonderful. He brought us robes (without being asked), kept our ice bucket full as requested and gave us a $45 spa GC.
The wait staff was "ok" (the whole MDR experience was hurting this trip) While the staff continuously asked if everything was ok and did we need anything, everytime we asked for something - it never came. (Like coffee with dessert, toppings for baked potatoes or bread for the table.) Because the Carnival staff is usually SOOOO wonderful, when it is just average it stands out.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
It is an older ship. Even with the rehab in 2017, it still looks a little worn out. That being said, it wasn't anything that impaired our fun.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
We booked this cruise late and had few choices in rooms. This actually worked out nicely for us. Our Carnival PVP found us a corner front cabin that is handicap accessible. It means the room is larger and the bathroom HUGE. We took it with the possibility of getting bumped to another room if it was needed by someone with limited mobility.
Ship tip
It is a good option for the age and class of ship.
We stayed 2 days ahead of cruise date. 2 days isnt enough time to go to much, but it is enough to explore Bourbon street and the surrounding area. (We stayed on the corner of Canal and Bourbon streets)
We did a Carnival expedition for an all-inclusive beach day at Kokomo Beach. It was a nice time. Drinks were plentiful and good. Food was delicious! Authentic Mexican/ Myan food.
The beach was calm and great for floating into cool off (it was 102f that day) There was quite a bit of seaweed, but it is the Gulf of Mexico - that's what you would expect.
One downside was the cost. $79per person was a but much for the 3 1/2 hours you were there. (Again we chose this last minute due to the heat - usually we have everything planned ahead of time)
