Review summary

This cruise felt different than past cruises. We liked the ports and enjoy that time on our own to do as we please. The entertainment/things going on while on the ship seemed less exciting this time. It felt like some of the staff interactions were forced - almost like the staff were faking that they like their jobs. This was our 6th cruise and this was the first time that someone got sick. Three of the four of us became ill immediately after the cruise and I believe it was the noro-virus. We are serious about our health and wash our hands very often but we still got sick. Be prepared.

Embarkation

Good. I liked the mobile check-in as it made the line move very quick.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was good but this time, it wasn't exceptional.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
We utilized the pool areas, shuffleboard, bean bag games, and the board games.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Two of the comedians were excellent. We loved the lip sync competition and the rock and roll show.

Children's Programs

Children are over 18

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our cabin steward was excellent. The dining room staff was also excellent- they made the dining more fun. I called for a delivery from housekeeping and I had to call twice to get the item that I needed.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Okay.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
This cabin felt a little larger than past cabins. The king bed and the drop down bed were very comfortable. The sofa bed was awful.

Ship tip

It felt like there was more emphasis on selling stuff near the shops and less emphasis on the entertainment. Be prepared to find things to do.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

Fine. We just went to the cruise terminal and did not explore.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

Relaxing. We spent our time at the beach. It was okay.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
We like this port-there is a lot to do. We went snorkeling with a private company and the excursion was excellent.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

3 out of 5
We rented a car and drove around to get a feel for the island. Went to the beach. We also visited the downtown shopping area- very congested but great to see.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

4 out of 5
We liked the port area- very nice and the shop keepers are not pushy. We rented a car and drove around, went to two beaches, and we also took the gondola ride up the mountain to see the Christ the Redeemer statue. Very nice. But, the driving is quite scary!

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Pretty organized.
