I wouldn't recommend a Carnival Glory cruise under Captain Roja and cruise director Dustin Gabriel because Captain Roja refused to let four of my family members board the ship whose flight were delayed and Carnival were aware of this. Boarding in Miami stopped at 3:20 and they showed up at 3:23 and Captain Roja refused to let them board when the gangway was still down on a lower deck and ship was still secured by ropes and ship didn't departed Miami until after 4:30 and Carnival has refused to give my four family members their money back. Cruise director Dustin Gabriel should quit being cheap and stuffing his own pockets and hire more bands for constant entertainment
Embarkation

Terrible because Carnival passengers bill of rights states a customer can have backup emergency power for CPAP Machines incase of power outage and carnival checkers was trying to take away my backup power saying it wasn't allowed. My emergency equipment is FCC compliance to sail and Fly. I had to explain to the Carnival idiots it was my rights under carnival passengers Bill of rights to have it and my distilled water they were trying to take, but i was able to keep them all because unlike the Carnival Checkers, I was aware of my rights
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
I think the Carnival Glory was an unsafe ship because many cabins including mines could not hear any announcement by the Captain. We had to open our room doors to hear what was being said. That would be a terrible thing had a real emergency occurred. I don't see how and why the Coast Guard let this ship leave port with 5000 lives on board being in danger because of a PA system that doesn't properly works
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Onboard activities were plentiful and Okay
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Entertainment was great, but the cruise director ( Dustin Gabriel ) refused to hire enough bands to keep the entertainment going. It would be sad to discover Dustin refused to hire more bands to perform just so he can put more money in his pockets or Carnival bank accounts
Service and Staff

MR. MADE on Carnival Glory was great. I forgot to leave him a tip because just before getting off ship Carnival said i must visit customers services before I get off ship to settle a bill, so i did and waited at the desk for over 30 minutes to be told there were no bills to be settled. What a waste of time
Ship Quality

Ship design and cleanliness were okay
Cabin / Stateroom

I thought an Ocean Suite would've been larger, but over all, it was Okay and a big improvement over a regular balcony room
Ship tip
Do not sail on Carnival Glory if the ship is being said under Captain Roja. Captain Roja refused to let four of my family members board the ship at 3:23 when 3:20 was the cut off. My four family members flight were delayed and Carnival were aware of this. They got to the ship at 3:23 and were refused entry and refused a refund and Captain Roja still had the gangway down and ship secured to docks by ropes over one hour later after he refused to let my four family members board. Infact the ship never departed Miami until after 4:30 and my family members got there at 3:23. Captain Roja is one nasty mean Captain and I don't think Carnival cares
Did not get off the ship because it appeared to be a 20-30 minute boat ride to land. I didn't take that chance on those smaller boats because I know of a situation when a snaller boat somehow got overwhelmed and sunk on a long trip and everyone onboard were drowned
Terrible. Cruise director Dustin Gabriel only made one call for disembarking. Carnival said i had an outstanding bill at last minute when it was time for disembarkment. I was detained at Carnival guest services station for 30 minutes delaying my disembarkment to be told they made a mistake and i did not have an outstanding Bill. That was terrible because I was a priority customer in a Carnival Suite and thanks to Carnival incompetents, i'd lost my priority status to disembark
If I'm wrong, please forgive me, but i thought cruise directors were over bands . Eventhough bands signed contracts with Carnival, all things are organized via cruise director, so in that manner i don't think i cast blame in wrong direction, i think i accurately cast blame to top (cruise director) because that individual is in charge. It was my mistake to blame Carnival's Captain Roja for not letting my family board ship at 3:23 when boarding had end at 3:20. That wasn't Carnival's fault,, that was the fault of the inconsiderate moronic U.S. Customs. I call them inconsiderate moronic idiots because my family members was Standing at the doorway entry when they open door & discharged a woman and child for improper documents but refused to let my four family members enter in that very same door. Door opens,,, two individuals are allowed to exist,,, but four individuals are refused entrance. FYI to the MAGA who told me to cruise elsewhere because i had a bad experience... America is a free country and that includes freedom of speech which includes the right to criticize anyone & that includes you. I have the freedom to cruise with Carnival or any cruise line on planet Earth my money can take me. If i decide to cruise another cruise line, that would be my choice and not because some MAGA Thinks he has the right to talk down to individuals who makes legitimate complaints.
Fiesta83 I'm now confused. Were your family members standing in line inside the terminal or were shut outside of terminal? The terminal is not controlled by Carnival but by the Port Authority, makes a difference when placing blame. The Cruise Director is not in charge of entertainment, even the Entertainment Director has no control over positions hired, Carnival Corporation does that. Again, makes a difference when placing blame . Sorry your cruise sucked. Try another line, might be more to your liking.
Please be sure you are casting blame where it belongs. Dustin is the Cruise Director not the Entertainment Director and has no control over who is hired for the music. He is really just the MC for things and in charge of the "Fun Squad". I do not know where your family was exactally at 3:23 but there are locations where the Captain would have no control. If they were at the port but not in the terminal, if they were at the terminal doors and couldn't enter or any where in before that for example. I understand that you were upset, but to blame the wrong person for things is not the best way to go about it.
I was also on this sailing and we left several ports late because the Captain did wait for people when he had the option to do so.
Mike252 That's great, and i don't disagree with you because we stayed at a Hotel the day before the cruise, but some of my family members still had to work, so they flew down the day of the cruise. Please try to understand my recap and don't take things out of character like shawnee13675 and cbyron3 has done...After getting off work and on the way to airport, my family members flight was delayed. Carnival was informed of this. Boarding ended at 3:20, they got there at 3:23 but wasn't allowed to enter, but at the same time they reopened the doors to let a lady leave who didn't have proper ID and while door was open which means custom and port authority were still active because they just discharged a passenger they refused to admit passengers and the gangways were still down and the ship never sailed for another hour and a half. I felt the Captain on Carnival Glory in Maimi could've done like the Captain in Ft. Lauderdale on Carnival Conquest and make sure if you were Standing in line, you were able to get on that ship. I can understand had someone showed up after the ship gangways were removed and the ship has been untied and ready to sail, but not if someone is Standing in line to board
Shawnee13675 i really hope you and family enjoy your 12 night cruise. I think you should be advised of When i sailed Carnival Conquest out of Ft. Lauderdale, as congestive as Ft. Lauderdale were, that Captain made sure everyone inline got on that ship. It's funny how you ignored the facts that my family members were standing in line and were not allowed to board and change the subject to port authority already clearing the ship. The Captain can either wait or not wait on passengers as this happens everyday by Carnival Captains who disregard port authority and wait on passengers on excursions through Carnival which therefore proves my point that the Captain gets the last word. I understand your type. You only think something is wrong if it happens to you and you could careless about others. 3:20 to 3:23 is not a lot of time when the ship stayed at port for another hour and a half with gangway still down. I could hurl insults at you like you did to me, but i won't. I'm just gonna say may the good Lord bless you and your family on your 12 night cruise on Carnival Glory. Good day sir.
I am only commenting on this part of the post. They only make emergency announcements in the rooms. The other non emergency announcements play in the halls and common areas.
We were on the Glory last Thanksgiving and it was one of the best cruises we have been on. Going again in 3 days. Awesome ship, food, staff, entertainment, etc.
We live in Florida and drive to the ports and still go the day before. Anything could happen. I feel a lot better being at a hotel close to port the day of the cruise
If possible arrive the day before. It's not the captain or cruise directors fault your family didn't allow extra time in case of a delay. Port authority probably cleared the ship already. When necessary emergency announcements can be heard in cabins. Sounds like you need to find another cruise line to complain about. We are looking forward to our 12 night cruise in an ocean suite on the Glory in February.
I sailed with carnival glory last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately, that is the chance you take when flying in the same day to board a cruise. I feel so sorry for your family but put this down to experience and stay overnight in Miami.
