Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The Golden Restaurant is the best! The food is superior to the buffets, so we tried to go every night. The waiters are so fun, funny, and polite. At 7:00 they do a dance and it's a blast to watch! You also get to meet other cruisers, so that's fun! Guys Burgers and Burrito Bar were also delicious!

Onboard Activities

Hot tubs were a little cool, so that was disappointing. Out of the 4 comedians, one was hilarious (Azeem) and we went to all his shows. Loved all the trivia also!

Entertainment

The shows were incredible - the singers were so talented! All the musicians were wonderful.

Service and Staff

The staff are the nicest people I've ever met. Always at your beck and call. Had NO problems.

So much bigger than our last cruise, so it was very enjoyable!

Ship tip

Download the Carnival Hub app so you know what's going on. Go to everything at least once in the first two days, then you can decide what you want to go to again. Go to the special shopping program - she'll tell you where and how to get a bunch of free/nice items.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

The port is not well laid out! Plan for extra time to get to your cruise ship - traffic crazy!

Grand Turk Island

The island is very small (about 7 miles) but the ocean water was beautiful!! It's multiple shades of blue and I loved it! You don't even have to spend $ on an excursion because they have free beach chairs right off the port. Bring some snorkle gear and you can spend the whole day doing that! It's really easy to get on and off the ship, so you can go back and get lunch on board with no hassle. We did a high ropes course with ziplining. It was a lot of fun, even for someone who doesn't like heights! The staff was kind and helped me when I was frightened. The main zipline is 750 feet long! There are some ziplines that you have to do yourself (safe, just scary), so beware of that. No one at the company takes pictures, and if you have your phone secured, you could bring it up and take pictures. Depending on the group you may be waiting on the platforms 5+ minutes, so there's time.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

This port was beautiful and my favorite! Again another stop where you don't need to pay for an excursion. Amber Cove has a free resort with beautiful pools, water slides, and beach chairs. They also have a swim-up bar. Our excursion took almost the whole time, so I was disappointed we didn't get to spend more time there. They also have those cabanas out on the water that you can rent and I thought that would have been fun. Again very easy to get on and off the ship if you want to go back for lunch. We took the Igana Mama (not a carnival one) 27 waterfalls excursion and it is the coolest thing I have ever done! You hike about an hour up in the rainforest i would rate it a 6/10 level of hardness - you do need to be in shape. There were some people who were not and they caused the group to go slower which gave us less time at the waterfalls. so please be considerate of this. It took about 2 hours to get down by jumping and sliding down the waterfalls. It was seriously a blast. I was scared every time I had to jump but it was still a blast. The guides were so kind and funny. They made me feel very safe! They have photographers you can hire and they follow just you and your group and take pictures - its so worth the $50.00 I just looked at the pictures and videos and they are great!

San Juan, Puerto Rico

This port was great. A lot to do and see on your own, the city is very easy to walk around. It's the capital, so there's shopping, restaurants, and basically city life activities. There are two old forts that you can buy tickets for to explore and learn more about the history of PR. Tickets are good for both forts. There are not guided tours, so maybe do some research before you go, so you know what you are looking at. It is not as easy to get on and off the ship as other ports. We did the window cave experience and that was really neat. We hiked in two caves and got to see this overlook of PR though a natural 'window' (25 feet+) in the side of the mountain. The excursion is ran by a research organization which was a really neat idea. So they taught us about the history and science of the caves. It was really neat to have a tour from the perspective of people who want to help preserve nature and our planet. My only complaint which is not their fault is that it takes an hour and half one way to get there - which just eats up a lot of the day.

Almost uncomfortably easy. They didn't check our passports or our bags. We basically just walked right off the ship!
