Review summary

Good, not great, but probably met expectations. Didn't push drinks. Embarkation and debarkation slow, but problem free. Empress deck good choice.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food in dining room was good, though some menu choices were rather odd, but we always found something to eat that we liked. Avoid hot food on the buffet. If you are doing "on Your Own Time" dining, eat early to avoid lines. Lots of food options besides dining room and buffet.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Disappointed for "Fun Ship." Show average. One comedian we saw was fair. Avoid adult comedy if you don't appreciate raunchy language. Not lots to do on sea days.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Friendly, polite, and helpful

Ship Quality

Garish decor. Some spaces felt tight. Straight backed seating uncomfortable.

Cabin / Stateroom

Garish and somewhat dated, but adequate storage. Hard mattress. Bathroom was updated and fairly large. Well lit- almost too light when main lights were on.

Ports of call

Boston, Massachusetts

Previously visited so we didn't do an excursion. The ship arrived too late to go on a private Freedom Trail tour, so we walked around a little. Long walk to town from the port. Took cab back. Unusual time in port 2-10 limited activities.
Don't Miss: Freedrom Trail, Lexington & Concord

Saint John, New Brunswick

Missed high tide at Bay of Fundy. Check tide times before booking a tour. We were there at slack tide. Had great photography tour from the ship. Would highly recommend.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Booked private tour which was good. Went on hike prior to seeing Peggy's Cove, cemetery, park. Wish we could have stopped for fall leaf pics.
Don't Miss: Peggy's Cove is a quaint town with lighthouse.

Portland, Maine

No excursion. Walked around. Delicious lobster rolls on adjacent pier.
Don't Miss: Lobster or lobster rolls.

Pros: Molten chocolate cake, room size & location, staff friendliness

Cons: Buffet food temperature,
