Carnival Glory

5 Night Canada/New England (New York Roundtrip)

Sail date: July 02, 2011

Ship: Carnival Glory

Cabin type: Inside

Traveled as: Family (young children)

Reviewed: 13 years ago

Review summary

Ship is quite large, but the layout is too confusing. To go to a specific place, sometimes you would have to go up or down a floor and then circle around before heading back up or down in order to get where you wanted to go. If that sounds confusing, imagine having to do it!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The first 2 days the food was lackluster and poor by my companions' standards. However, with each night the quality improved. Our last 2 nights were quite enjoyable. The ambience is fine. Not much variety at breakfast or lunch, particularly with regard to the buffets.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Impressed by the quality of the comedians and performers onboard, especially the illusionist show.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
Camp Carnival is adequate. However, for a 5 yr. old it seems a bit boring. The staff seem distant and not very enthusiastic. The safety was very well done; wristbands are worn throughout the voyage, and special forms and badges have to be adorned as well.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was helpful, when they could speak English. ;)

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship was clean, with plenty to do and places to eat. But the layout is horrible (see above).

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
A stateroom can always be larger, but we were able to make it work for 4 of us. Not much decor due to the size, with no amenities. The room was kept neat and clean.

Pros: The entertainment on board.

Cons: Waiting to long for dinner to be served. Seated at 8:15PM. Did not receive food until after 10:00PM.
