You have to be checked in and onboard 1hr before listed departure time. Carnival has to turn in a complete passenger list prior sailing.

The time you choose when you check in and choose the 30 minute window for your arrival appointment.

If your departure time is 3:30 end of boarding time is usually 2hrs ahead so you may have to boarded by 1:30

Usually the terminal locks its doors 90 minutes prior to the scheduled sail away (so 2pm in your case). Passengers need to complete the physical security inspection and check-in 1hr prior to sail away (2:30pm for a 3:30 departure). Finally the new emuster, must be logged in by a crew member at least 30 minutes prior to the ship leaving thr dock (3pm).
