Review summary

This was my fourth Trans Ocean crossing, the first with Carnival. It is inconceivable that I would willingly travel again with the cruise line.

Onboard Activities

The gym was good. Like the Dive-In Movies. Uncle Tio Phil was a terrific rock duo. Our blackjack dealer was good to work with.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
One of the comics was funny. Too few music shows in the Victoria Theatre. At least two of the principle acts cancelled for one reason or another.

Balcony door latch crooked and hard to manipulate. Shower didn't drain properly. The rest was fine.

Ship tip

Research all stops along the way. No one on board will provide guidance. And no one from Carnival outside the ship to help people know what to do.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

King's Wharf, Bermuda

The "sales rep" advised us not to go to Hamilton. But Hamilton was the best part of the visit. He was just trying to steer people to Diamonds International.

Ponta Delgada, Azores

Seven Cities excursion was a disaster. It was an afternoon excursion. The same morning excursion encountered the same dense fog that we encountered, making the trip a nothing sandwich. The ship said there was no way to know about the weather, but the guide told us before we left the dock that we wouldn't be able to see because of dense fog. Then the tour stopped at a different site, two passengers fell and one had to be hospitalized. We waited an hour for the ambulance. We asked for credit for another excursion, but the ship refused, saying it had no responsibility for what happened. An advisory in advance would have let us cancel and do a little shopping. We got back too late to do what we wanted to do.

No guidance whatsoever. People stumbled on to busses, not know where they were going. Then hundreds of people stumbling from one bus stop to another without a clue. I was one of six of us to have our wallet or purse stolen while waiting for another bus to Who Knows Where. Absolute Bush League.

It’s always important to research the ports on your own and usually a better experience booking independently excursions.

Thanks for your review. You wrote it was your fourth ocean crossing yet you have no cruises in your profile….

Sorry you had a bad experience, but.... 1). How do you hold Carnival accountable for the weather? 2).Why wouldn't you research the stops beforehand, so you would know what is available to do and what you may enjoy instead of going into something like that blind? Sounds like a lot of blame for your bad experience is on you. Just my opinion, I've never done an extended cruise like that. I just think I would be more prepared myself rather than hope that someone is going to hold my hand the entire time while I'm off the ship
