It was a major letdown. There wasn't much to do on board, the food was bad, they penny and dimed us, added on $80 per person at the end of the cruise in gratuities, and wouldn't compensate us any when they gave my husband food poisoning, which caused us to miss a day going out to Nassau, the first island we stopped at. So much for a relaxing and enjoyable honeymoon!
Embarkation

The process was fairly simple and straight forward getting on the ship despite all the people there. Finding our room was quite challenging, though

Food and Dining

The good overall was mediocre at best, with most of it being quite bad, even in the main restaurants that were the included meals on board. My husband and I were on our honeymoon, and he got food poisoning from the Posh Restaurant our first night. Because of this, he was laid up in bed the whole next day so we couldn't go to Nassau when the ship docked there for the day. Overall, the food was unappetizing, not fresh, and room temperature.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
There weren't a whole lot of activities that interested us on board. We played mini golf one night, but it was super windy which made things difficult. There were crowded pools and hot tubes that we didn't use, as well as a casino and a lot of bars, which also didn't interest us. There were some music performances we saw passing by the main lounge, which would have been cool if they weren't ear-shatteringly loud.
Entertainment

Very loud

No kids
Service and Staff

Our room maintenance man was very polite and friendly, and did a great job. Some of the places to eat did not provide very good service. The seafood place made us wait over 20 minutes even though they weren't busy and there were several workers in the kitchen.

Things seemed clean
Cabin / Stateroom

The bed was horrible. It was comprised of two twin beds pushed together, so they kept separating throughout the night. One side had a massive dip in the middle and I could feel the springs jabbing into my side, as well. It made for a very unpleasant night.
Ship tip
Don't eat the calamari at the Posh Restaurant, or you might get an awful case of food poisoning
We swam with stingrays and snorkeled, which was a good experience. There were also several shops on the island, but we didn't have time to look around.
It was fine. We weren't able to get off the boat until about 10:00am because we were one of the last groups to get called, so we were just waiting around for 2 hours at the buffet area because we weren't allowed to be in our room
When you book a cruise gratuity is listed on the bill. This daily fee gets split between employees who taken care of you during your trip. Most of their money comes from tips and they normally support their families back home. By trying to wiggle your way out of paying for gratuity you would be hurting them not the cruise lines. All cruise lines use the same concept not just carnival. I am pretty sure your trip was not that miserable and servers did not give your husband food poisoning. Unfortunately it happened but it could have happened on mainland in any restaurants too.
