Review summary

I will never cruise Carnival again. Food was awful, you had to pay for upgraded food if you wanted seafood or something extra. What is the point of all inclusive?! The people onboard were rude! We did meet some great people which we will stay in touch with though. Didn't get to enjoy the pool. The ports were SO crowded because the Carnival Mardi Gras was docked a the same time and we never got to enjoy the islands because every beach chair was taken, the beach was packed and so were the restaurants! It was not a pleasant vacation at all to say the least!

Embarkation

Terrible! VERY unorganized and you rush to get into line to stand! I asked for a wheelchair for my mother who has screws in her back and a stimulator implant and they told me to go find one!!!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Food was awful. I got food poisoning on the ship and spent a whole day in my room sick.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The activities were ok. Nothing fabulous.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The performers were good.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service and staff were amazing! They should get 10 stars!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The bathrooms were disgusting in the public areas. People are slobs and it was hard to keep up with cleaning!

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The room was nice, but only had one outlet! I had to call for an extension cord to plug in our phones and devices.

Ship tip

Don't go! I didn't even get a chance to dip my feet in the pool because there were SO many people in the pool and were so rude. I also didn't even get a chance to sit at the pool because people hogged the chairs! Someone threw up over the balcony 2 floors up in our room and we had to have service come clean it up.

Ports of call

Disembarkation

IT WAS AWFUL!!!! We once again needed a wheelchair. My mom had to walk to the wheelchair area which was a haul just so they could wheel her into line to sit!! We needed to take transportation to the airport so they wheeled my mother to the end and made her stand for 30 minutes until the next transport bus came to get us. It was a mess!

Do you still get free steak and lobster on elegant night? Going on spirit in Dec.

1.) Seems like Carnival (the staff) were nice. Carnival cannot select the passengers. We have had some cruises where our fellow passengers were better (or not) on each trip. Carnival tends to be a younger crowd, so if you want a quieter crowd, look for another cruise line. 2.) ALL cruise lines have food included. ALL cruise lines have “upgraded” food options. 3.) Every cruise I have been on has crowded pools and limited poolside seating. It is annoying, yes, but it happens on ALL cruise lines. 4.) Ports will be crowded because multiple ships can be docked on the same day, which is typical. Had to come in on another cruise line, the situation would have been the same. 5.) Wheelchair service expectations need come down. Just like at the airport, there is not enough staff to have an employee accompany every passenger for curb-to-curb service. Wheelchair service also doesn’t give a person a “cut the line” pass. You will have to wait just like everyone else on every single cruise line. Just pointing out that what upset you does not sound cruise line specific, but more like cruising isn’t your cup of tea.

Homework is key.... and wheelchair should have been handled before you got to port.

How awful that someone threw up onto your balcony.

I’m sorry your cruise wasn’t enjoyable. Cruising is in higher demand now and more people are planning their vacations around cruising. I hope your next cruise is better. None of our cruises on Royal Caribbean or Carnival have been “all inclusive” but we have always enjoyed what is included. We have noticed more children cruising when school is out and that can change the levels of relaxation compared to cruising when children are in school. We also look at port schedules to see how many ships will be there during our desired cruises. And we also enjoy interacting with the friendly crew members and other fun loving cruisers which always adds to the enjoyment of our cruise. Thank you for sharing your review. 😎🚢☀️🩴🏝🪸🐠🌺

The “issues” you described are not specific to Carnival. And yes, some options are extra. Who told you everything was included? Research, research, research!

Better off when kids are in school!! Carnival has more food options free then Royal!

Try cruising when schools are in session for a better experience.
