We had a great time and took a nap almost everyday. Slept wonderfully as always on Carnival pillows and bc of the waves! Food was great, entertainment was good. Great value for the money.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Excellent- Carnival has changed their embarkation process over the last few years and it is so easy breezy! Show up at your appointed time and you will be on the ship in about 20-30 mins.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
This may have been one of the best food experiences we’ve had on Carnival. No not perfect but really good. And as my husband says, I’m a picky eater.
We had wonderful food in the main dining room. I even tried some new foods and liked several
Of them, (I’m. Vegetarian so it’s hard to find new foods that I will give a try)
The buffers are great and have wonderful variety. Guys burgers, I only ate the fries but the rest of our party loved the burgers. The Blue Iguana tacos & burritos were awesome. They’re open for breakfast so you can get breakfast burritos!
The Pizza Pirate is always scrumptious.
They’re are just so many options in the buffet also.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
I think Carnival has added to the choices onboard and there is something for everyone. You can always bring your own cards, a book. Yes, there’s plenty of down time, but we learned to take a nap during the day.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
I do get tired of the Vegas style shows. But there are other things to do. We enjoyed some of the music in the bars, especially Bob Ross and the Mob Boss band on the Freedom. I loved the band bc they had people who sang and talked to the audience. Some of the bands just get up there and play music, almost never spoke. I don’t enjoy that as much. This group was awesome! Wish they had more bands like them, even country & western music.
Children's Programs
We didn’t have any children with us on this trip.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
We have always had great service on Carnival cruise ships and the Freedom was no exception. Great staff!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
I read a review of the Freedom before we went and I was concerned about going but when we arrived, the ship was beautiful, even though the colors are not my favorite. It was very clean, as usual for Carnival. Our room was clean, the halls and main rooms were clean. I did not see any problems with cleanliness.
Cabin / Stateroom

Our cabin was superb! Wish I could make myself pay for a larger suite, but for 2 people, the regular balcony is plenty of room.
Ship tip
Show up on time for embarkation, if possible, plan to carry off your own luggage and debark early. That means don’t over pack, you don’t need it. Take only what you need, but don’t forget a light jacket for evening and air conditioned areas, I found them a little cool.
We did the Segway excursion, it was a 7 out of 10! I was not sure about it when they gave us hair nets to wear with our helmets( to protect against head lice). But I’m glad they did that. The island had just undergone a hurricane and was pretty wiped out. But the people are working hard and bouncing back to get their homeland back up and running.
We did a tour of the island. It was about 3 hours long and very informative. We got out several times to walk around, went to a distillery (20-30 mins, including the free sample of Pina Colada and time to buy a drink or Rum is we wanted. It was good.
Good experience, the only thing that would have made this better is if we had packed light enough to be able to carry off our own luggage. My husband & I could have, but we were traveling with someone who could not help with the luggage and so we had to jump in and give them a hand.
