Review summary

Overall it was a fun trip because any day at sea is better than being on land. However I personally think I prefer a ship that's a bit larger. I also think I prefer a ship with fewer young children and obviously Carnival is very family oriented. Overall the experience was fine & I would likely sail with Carnival again on a different class ship at a time of year where there may be fewer children.

Embarkation

So fast it was almost unbelievable.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
MDR was good, food was fine, service was excellent! Mohammed, Daniel & Rigers were amazing & made us enjoy dinner that much more. Guys Burgers top notch! Absolutely delicious, went multiple times & always had great food. Buffet was sad. Maybe this is because my last cruise was on Regal, which is a huge ship, but the offerings were lacking for sure. Bbq joint was so-so, deli was ok, steakhouse was fantastic!

Alchemy Bar

Was neat but not really my thing. Drinks were really strong, to the point that I didn't like it. But my husband liked the scotch.

Guy's Burger Joint

Best burger I've had in a really long time!

Habana Cigar Bar

The Posh Restaurant

5 out of 5

Loved it, particularly Daniel, Mohammed & Rigers!

Redfrog Rum Pub

Great drinks & atmosphere.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Adult only pool was nice. Atrium is really small, so any activities there were hard to enjoy because it was very crowded. Shows in the theater were ok but nothing to write home about.

Spa Carnival

5 out of 5

Mother daughter massage was just what the doctor ordered!

Entertainment

3 out of 5
So-so, they were okay (the shows). Piano bar was kind of fun but singer was pretty terrible.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
Our youngest is 14, but he really enjoyed Circle C. We barely saw him!

Circle C

5 out of 5

My 14 year old practically lived here. He had such a great time, it was all he could talk about!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Room steward, Arvin, was brilliant. Did a great job keeping both rooms tidy, was very friendly, always helped when we needed something. Already mentioned our serving crew who were awesome! Service from everyone was great.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Dated ship, even after dry dock. Placement of casino is godawful. Smoke doesn't bother me much, but the smoke from the casino is just overwhelming & awful. It seeps into other parts of the ship & it's gross.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Size is fine, cleanliness was good, decor was dated.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

5 out of 5
Loved Galveston. Went to Johnson Space Center and had a great time!

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
Used Roatan Ocean Adventures & visited Daniel Johnson's Monkeys & Sloths, went snorkeling for the first time & enjoyed Little French Key!

Belize City, Belize

4 out of 5
Shopping & lunch in Port, really enjoyed!

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
2nd time in Cozumel. We did Mr. Sancho's & had a great beach day!

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Longer than embark, but not bad at all. Off the ship & thru customs in about half an hour.

Just remember the bigger the ship the more people stuffed into the same size rooms.

We have 4 kids and I can’t wait for the time we cruise without them lol! Right now we enjoy taking them (and the youngest is 16 anyway), but it’ll be nice when we don’t have to worry about going when school is out.
