Noisy, fun, relaxing most of the time, wonderful food, friendly crew, excellent service, always felt safe and cared for. Can't wait for the next one.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Got inside parking just across the street from ship. FTTF got us on and in our room in no time.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Our first meal was the buffet for lunch and it was awful. We tried many items but were very disappointed, and we are not picky eaters. Went to the steakhouse that night and, wow, incredible! So good we went a second time later on the cruise. Stuck to the absolutely beautiful aft main dining most of the time and food was all really excellent with outstanding service. Guy's burgers are the best ever. Blue Iguana excellent. But they need to fix that buffet.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Gambled a little but couldn't take the smoke for long. Shopping was limited, would have liked less jewelry and more googahs and clothes. Didn't use spa services, pool or gym. Enjoyed outdoor movies and watching people dance. Went to Tea and that was very nice.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Shows were not at times we wanted to go but the one we did see was very good. DJ's were too loud on the lido. They had an excellent cover band but also too loud. Movies were recent but conflicted with late dining.
Children's Programs
No kids along.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Never had a problem. Super friendly and happy employees who would do anything the could for you. Can't say enough good things about the service. Made some nice friends.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Cleanliness excellent. Biggest ship every been on, a little hard figure out. Got lost almost every day. Was very impressed with the stability of the Carnival Freedom, even in heavy seas, smooth sailing, no one complaining about motion sickness at all.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Cabin was great for us. Had plenty of storage space and always clean. Noisy because we were right above the casino and there was a band every night we could here pretty clearly, but stopped about 11pm so it wasn't too bad. Near the elevators which was not at all noisy and were very convenient. Surprised that elevators wait was never long or crowded. We loved having a balcony except that the neighbors ran us back into the room with their loud and extremely lewd rap music a couple of times. I think they brought a portable speaker that shouldn't be allowed.
Ship tip
Be flexible. We had to reverse the order of ports due to passenger medical emergency. We still got to go on all of our excursions. The cruiseline made every effort to arrange the changes. Eat at the steakhouse. Worth it.
We live in Texas and go to Galveston on beach vacations once or twice a year anyway. Love Galveston and there are some things to do there, wonderful restaurants and can recommend the Galveston Party boats for inexpensive bay fishing.
Did a 2.5 hour catemeran snorkel tour that was wonderful. Not much shopping near the port, we were warned not to go off on our own so we didn't see much. Want to go back sometime.
Best snorkel experience I've ever done. Did Capt. Marvin's Stingray City and Reef snorkel tour, total hour of snorkeling in two locations. Exceptional. I've been to Grand Cayman before, but getting out to the reef instead of just a beach was the way to go.
Third trip to Cozumel, love Chankanaab park where we did got Dolphin Experience, unlimited food and drinks in a nice airconditioned cafe, guided taxi ride and paid admittance to the park included. Explored the lagoon and jungle area, clean restrooms, snorkeled for a long time at the reef just off the beach. Wonderful day.
