Review summary

This was our first cruise, so we weren't really sure what to expect. Not bad overall, but not sure we'd do another. We joined several friends and their young kids, which is why we selected Carnival. If we were to cruise again, we'd look at a different cruise line. And we'd do a little research to know what cruise activities were available. I don't want to spend all my time in a casino because there aren't decent alternatives. The food was really lackluster for me. I'm not sure why so many people have raved about the buffets. I was very thankful to be back home so that I could enjoy food with some flavor and seasoning again!

Embarkation

Easy embarkation experience, although it could be improved with more air conditioning.

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Most of the food was bland, and needed a considerable amount of seasoning. I did really enjoy the steakhouse and the burger joint. There's a surprising lack of seafood on the menu. Very few options throughout the week, unless you wanted to pay additional for sushi or gross looking food from a specialty.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools were okay. Fitness center was larger than I expected. Piano bar was fantastic.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
My wife and I really enjoyed the comedy shows, the trivia games, and several other performers.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
My only complaint about the cleanliness is that I could _never_ find a trash can. So I ended up having to leave trash on empty tables.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

Galveston was the home port. No excursion.

Key West, Florida

Paddle boarding was a complete blast. Thoroughly enjoyed the activity and the town.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

We didn't enjoy this port. The shopping was horrid. Each store contained the same junk as the next.

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Good shopping, fun excursion (Atlantis).

Fair comments. Cruising is not for everyone, which is a good thing because cruise lines could charge whatever they wanted if everyone wanted to cruise.
