Overall, the Carnival Freedom is a great ship that offers maximum fun. We have sailed on it 2x now and plan to sail on it again. Our favorite part is the Vista Wraparound Balcony. Book it as early in advance as you can because they go quickly.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
One of the quickest embarkations we have had and we have sailed out of Houston, New Orleans, Miami, and Galveston. Never waited in line for any of the processes required. Flowed smoothly.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The sun King Steakhouse on the Freedom is very elegant with excellent food. The main dining rooms are oddly located on deck 3, thus creating quite a maze to get to them. For the Posh dining room, we had to go to deck 5 aft, then go down to deck 3 to the dining room entry.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
The Freedom has great activities such as shuffle board, putt-putt golf, basketball, water slide, etc...
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The comedy shows are great, as well as the 80's music variety show.
Children's Programs
no children sailed with us
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
All dining room wait staff, including steakhouse waitstaff, went above and beyond to make our experience as delightful as possible. Room stewards were very attentive and delivered everything requested.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Nice layout, oddly designed.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We request and book this same cabin every time we sail on the Freedom. You cannot beat the views from the Vista Balcony stateroom. 8455 is below the lido deck, yet it is almost impossible for anyone to look down onto our deck. In the evenings, the cleaning staff on lido do move the chairs around quite a bit to mop, thus creating quite the noise, but the payoff is worth it with this amazing wraparound balcony and the views!!
Ship tip
It is a great ship. Book an aft balcony when possible. The views on the back of the ship are the best.
Freeport has really improved from when we were last there 8 years ago. They now have shops right off the ship's pier area. We did not do an excursion here.
We had to be out of our cabins by 8:30, which we were. We went up to the lido deck and had breakfast and just sat waiting for our zone to exit to be called. It is the same process for every cruise, so no complaints here.
