Review summary

I think we must not be Carnival cruisers.  The cruise was nothing short of boring, with the majority of the time spent in the middle of the ocean with nothing to see.  The set up of the casino on the same deck as the shops with smoking open to the entire floor was AWFUL!  The stateroom was marginal, but only ONE outlet in the entire place was a pain.  Thankfully we had elected to get a room with a balcony which made it much better.  The ship appeared to not be clean, and in spite of getting a flu shot, I ended up with the flu that continued into pneumonia.  We will never cruise on Carnival again.

Only one outlet in the entire room (including the bathroom) required the use of extension cords which was a pain. The balcony made the room bearable, and thankfully, someone had suggested we take a fan with us, which turned out to be a great idea since the room was HOT.

Ship tip

You might want to investigate different cruise lines.

I love cruising but I seem to catch something every third time. as a youth I never caught anything and my coaches would always put me in right field.

A person can get a virus anywhere. I am a germ a phob, so I always carry sanitizer, and wash my hands in every public place, not just on a cruise. Plus, I don't do public swimming pools and hot tubs. People are nasty everywhere!!

My son caught norovirus the last night of a cruise a about 2 years ago. We sanitize our whole room and wash our hands like we're OCD. Carry hand sanitizer everywhere with us. He refuses to go on anymore cruises with us because the norovirus stuck with him for about 3 weeks. Our doctor said some cases it can linger longer than that. And the kicker is my son washed his hand religiously and used sanitizer. I believe the probiotic my husband and I take helped keep us from getting sick.

Haha, we don't wipe down anything in our cabin or on our balcony. We just wash our hands throughout the day, just as we would at home. But we also don't use the elevators; they are the worst place on the ship with all the germ bags riding them throughout the day.

Take your antiseptic wipes and wipe down your cabin surfaces and wash your hands before entering the MDR. Pretty basic hygiene.

boring in middle of sea with nothing to see, but yet having a balcony made it better..sound contradictory!

If your name tells it all, cruising is just that. You are out to sea until your ports, you need to relax and enjoy your time at sea that's what it's all about. Go camping or site seeing on your next vacation. Far as getting the flu, that could have happened at your place of employment and would you blame them like you did Carnival.

Cruising is obviously not for you. Try something else...JS

Yeah, you're definitely not Carnival cruisers. Or cruisers period. Try a land vacation. And be sure to bring a mask, because you can get the flu literally anywhere.

sorry you got sick...please try the Carnival Breeze it leaves out of the same port and has different layout and much more to do onboard.

You could have picked up the flu anywhere. Most likely from port. And what did you expect to see in the middle of the ocean? Mountains? Hopefully you'll recover from pneumonia. I had it when I was 6 months pregnant so I know it sucks. Feel better soon.

the casino is usually the only place to smoke.... however the smoke travels to other areas. I would prefer the ships to be not smoking but that does not make money.

you can get the flu from the shot js
