Review summary

For the price the cruise was okay. I did not like the layout of the ship. Difficult on main decks to get from point A to point B..... Confusing.  Food and service was good in the main dining room in the evenings. Buffet on Deck 9 was mediocre at best. The entertainment was good. Cruise Director was very entertaining and knowledgeable.

Seemed like one big party ship with folks carrying around drinks and beer, being rude and making lots of noise. Doubt I will travel on Carnival again. Guess I am getting old. Need a little more refinement in my shipmates and better food outside the nice dining room.  Wanted to make a comparison with another cruise line compared to my last cruise on Royal Caribbean. Will go back to Royal Caribbean in the future.

I was on the Freedom in November. It took a couple of trips to the dining room to remember the route, but we got it. I really liked the ship.

creis60 I think it really depends on what ship. I have been on RCI Majesty of the Seas and was not very impressed. The service was amazing but the ship cleanliness and food was just so so (dining room food was better). I have also been on Carnival Sunshine which was much better, and Carnival Breeze which was better yet. The food was really good (the odd thing wasn't great in the buffet, but was better than most cruise buffets), and the ship was amazingly clean. Our room steward was excellent and our only problem with the dining room was not being asked if we wanted beverages. I know that the Freedom is not going to be as grand, as it is also smaller and older. The ships are priced accordingly. I still figure that you are getting a nice large room, all the food you can eat (usually better than what you would get if you were at a hotel and eating at restaurants), entertainment included, and transportation to various islands all for much less than you would spend on a land based vacation. My attitude is just to look for the good in the experience, have a positive attitude, and have fun! After all, you aren't at work and get to look at the ocean all day. That being said, I would also love to go on the Oasis of the Seas or the new Quantum class. The ship's look amazing.

Alcoholic beverages were weak, slots were extremely tight. There was a loud p.arty crowd on deck 10, we did enjoy their youthful antics though lol. We had an aft wrap balcony. Cabin was nice ad kept well maintained but the balcony itself was filthy and not cleaned for the duration. Ship needs exterior cleaning badly!!! This was our 3rd carnival cruise, it will also be our last. No comparison t

I agree, we did not like the layout of the ship either. To confusing. The main dining rom table for two's were very cramped and offered no privacy. We thought the food In both the main ding room and the buffet was more along the lines of " cafeteria quality" although the cold selections were good as well as the deserts. Burrito bar, fish & chips and guys burgers were really good.

I thought people went on a cruise to let loose and have fun....refinement?! is for stiffs. If people annoy you that much but your own boat and be and refinded as you wish.

If you went on a 5 day or less it's a bigger party scene. The longer the cruise the nicer it is.

Carnival is a party ship. Maybe you should stick with Royal Caribbean.
