Review summary
2nd time cruising, 1st time on Carnival. Won't be making that mistake again.
First off, the boat was very rocky. It was hard not to slip and fall while showering. There weren't any storms...so not sure what that was about. The service is just not the same as I experienced on Royal Carribbean. Everything on this boat feels like a ripoff. Royal Caribbean made you feel special from room service to dining to casual drinks at the bar. The service on this ship was just like they had to be there, but definitely did not want to be.
The food was terrible. Anything outside of the formal dining restaurant did not even look safe to eat. The lettuce was brown, the cheese was gross. Nothing looked remotely fresh. The food was one of the best parts of my last cruise experience and on Carnival Freedom, I nearly starved! The room service breakfast is hardly breakfast. Cereal and bread is pretty much all the offer. For the amount of money you spend, Royal Carribbean is 15x better in the food dept.
It rained every single day of the cruise and what does Carnival do? Capitalize on your ruined vacation by making you purchase a poncho on your way off the boat. I thought this was in extremely poor taste. Also, they dont even bother calling your cabin to tell you the shore excursion has been canceled. We went all the way out to the Port in the pouring rain to be told by the natives it was canceled. Thanks, Carnival. We could have at least slept in.
The boat itself was VERY outdated. Everything looked dirty and old.
The drink prices were Outrageous. Considerably higher than you pay on Royal Caribbean. All in all, you pay far more for the little amount you save by booking with carnival.
