Review summary

Not sure why an itinerary like this has the smallest and oldest ship in the fleet. I can’t see why they could have a much larger much nicer ship on the cruise. Also, not sure why in 2019 they haven’t figured out a way for people embarking in Barbados to be able to utilize the Carnival Hub app. Without the app the scheduling of activities was much harder.

Actually, the Fantasy(1990) and Ecstasy(1991) are the oldest ships. Trust me, I have all ships listed in my phone by age. Do your research before cruising. Perhaps, that will make a difference.

It's always been that way. We sailed on the old Destiny out of San Juan a couple times. They also had embarkation in Barbados. I think they use smaller ships because not as many people cruise out of there compared to stateside ports.

No need to use a new ship...the itinerary makes the trip. Even on the fascination this was my favorite cruise other than the Mediterranean

I wonder if the OP was surprised by the ship... I recommend taking 5 minutes to do a little homework prior to booking. I also recommend you research cabin sizes to see that 185 sq ft is same ball park for other ships... BTW, we enjoyed the Fascination, as we have 6 different Fantasy Class ships...

Perhaps Barbados has restrictions on the size of ship the can embark from there. Sounds like an enjoyable cruise however.🛳

Not the oldest, I was just on the Sensation which is a year older than the Fasanation. Had a great time! The layout is different for the fantasy class ships, think of it as an adventure exploring a different class of ships.

Fantasy is the oldest Carnival ship.
