Review summary

Very disappointing cruise after the wonderful time we had on the Glory. The people we met were great but very little else was good. I was glad to get of the ship and go home.

Embarkation

When we joined the ship in Barbados it went very smoothly with customs on the ship. Then we had to attend a safety briefing at 5pm. We thought this was the end of embarkation, but it was not to be. We were informed that on the Sunday when we docked T San Juan we would be required to meet between 8:45 and 10am with Esta, passport and sail card to go through immigration again and stay off the ship until at least 12:30, as customers were disembarking and new guests coming on, also that all food outlets and bars would be closed between 9-10pm that evening, but the 200 passengers that got on at Barbados could go to the piano bar and get free drinks. The piano bar could, at a push hold 50 people. So we went to our cabin to watch a film as we were not required to attend the security briefing. We got the whole briefing through our room anyway. Let's talk about the terrible food at all levels, with coconuts being the worst. Only 1 side of the buffet open for 30 min, even though the food was all out at the other side getting cold. ( I would have loved to see the temperature readings for the food ) only when the queue got to about 30 -40 people did they open the other side and the food was seeawful anyway. The burger joint only had cheeseburgers and you added some cold toppings to the burger. Could not even get a coffee and biscuit. No biscuits at any time, only tacos, burritos, and burgers. Entertainment was poor with the exception of the 6 piece band who were very good. This is my 3rd cruise and 2nd with Carnival, but won't do another one. Oh ! And no hairdryer in the room. I know the saying is that you get what you pay for, but my holiday cost over £4500 and I don't think that is cheap. Either Carnival needs to update their food and procedures or put this ship to rest.

Up at 7am to put out the suitcases, then get to putting on the ritz for 7:30 for customs control. Ran out of tea/coffee 3 times. Finally got free of there at 8:45, went for breakfast, no bread for toast, queues at both sides of 30 people, I counted,. Could stay on the ship until 1pm
