Review summary

We are still upset at the embarking and the debarkation of the ship and not stopping at 1 of the Ports that we were suppose to stop at/Freeport, due to weather.

We were VIP and no one told us that we could go straight to VIP boarding (paid extra for VIP and feel we weren't treated any diff). We stood in LONG LINE/OVER 1 HR GETTING ON SHIP and when we finally got to ship boarding, woman asked why we stood In line with VIP and she said someone should have told us before we got to getting on ship. We had went through 3 other/diff employee's on boarding/showing our VIP tickets until we were getting on ship and told we didn't have to stand in line for over an Hr!

On debarking, it was maddening.  We were suppose to debark at 8a and we didn't get off boat until after 10:30a.  We sat in our room until 8:30ish, then sat in the theater for over an hr and then stood in LONG LINE ON DOWN 7 FLIGHTS OF STEPS/OVER 1 HR GETTING OFF SHIP.

The weather was rainy and windy/which we know can't be controlled, so we were told that the ship could not stop at Freeport .  We were given more night hr's (got there after dark and they counted the dark night hrs as extra time - which no one wants to get off @ strange port after dark) at Nassau.  We were not pleased with Nassau and never want to go back.

The entertainment was definitely a C - average if not below. We felt that the performers gave all that they had but they were more Rookie Entertainers and not talented enough to get our attention.

The food was average. We weren't told about the Sensation/Fascination Ship Dining Room until the 3rd day so we weren't aware that we could eat there 'on our time' until another guest told us. The other food on the ship had LONG LINES and the food was more like 'fast food restaurants' or same food ea day that we STOOD IN LINES for.

The Hot-tubs were not Hot.  There were 4 although we only seen 2 for the first 3 days and was not aware of the 2 adult only ones in the back of ship until we were bored one day/sunday and went on every floor to see what we could do.  We were hoping that they were Hotter, but they weren't as warm as the 2 that were full of Kids the entire time in the middle of ship. We still had to wait in the cold /wind to get in them to find out and then were disappointed. We (7 of us) had no waiter most of the time and after being in there for most of time, we flagged down the towel boy and asked him to get us a waiter.  It took forever for the waiter to come and sev people got out and came/went in meantime.

Sorry that this is long.  We thought the Carnival Cruise was cheap enough but when you see what you get, we see why others pay more for better management, newer ship, better entertainment and better Ports. We did trust and respected our Cabin Girl Johanna but not enough to ever go back on Carnival Cruises again.

Cabin Girl Johanna was very good and we felt we trusted and respected her. She made coming back to our room always welcoming.

We live 30 mins away. We felt this was very poorly Managed and will not go out of Port with Carnival again.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

Never got there due to weather.

Nassau, Bahamas

Dirty, very commercial and the locals are rude and overly money motivated. Will never go back.

We were priority boarding because we had a suite and when we got there the lady looked at our passes and pointed out the regular loooonnng line to security. No help at all. Not a single individual was in the priority line so we didn't even notice it was there until we finished two rounds of the regular line. We saw the sign and promptly scooted under the rope. From that point on it was super quick. Lesson learned, you can't trust the people working in the terminal to tell you anything that might make your day easier!

How do you not know every square inch of a Fantasy-Class ship by the end of the first day??? There's not exactly a lot to explore...

Debarkation was held up after 8 am for two hours because a senior citizen passed away. Had to wait on ambulance and customs to remove not carnival fault at all.

We weren't VIP, whatever that is, but did do FTTF and it was fabulous. We were among the first 50 on the ship and debarkation started at 8 and I was on the interstate headed north at 8:22. How you 'didn't know' about the dining room is a crock, it's printed on your sign and sail card for goodness sake.

Not sure how you didn't know you were VIP. And if you didn't know how did you expect others to know. We didn't purchase the Faster to Fun in September when we went on the Fascination and we were on board the ship in about 30-45minutes.

Am I the only one that has studied the ship front to back and top to bottom, months ahead of my sail date?? I keep seeing more and more bad reviews that could have been completely prevented had they done a little research. The information is out there people, you just have to LOOK 👀

Me too....

How can you be a VIP and not know it. I find this review dubious at best.

Weather is in Gods hands and control! Your vacation is what you make of it!! Sorry you had a bad time but hey at least you were away from work and home and didn't have to do house chores!! There are a lot of things to be thankful for--some people can't afford to go away from home!!!!!!

If you didn't do your homework in school and got a D or an F on the test, would that be the teachers fault?

I agree with dawnro, carnival cannot micromanage everybody's vacation because as you read these reviews everybody makes their own agendas. some folks don't like sit down dining and prefer lido buffet, others like set times and others like any time dining. on embarkation issue that should have been explained to you when you purchased faster to the fun. carnival cannot control the weather so that is a non issue. it sounds like you did self assist debarkation and there is always a line for that. as far as debarking later than scheduled that was probably a customs clearance issue, believe me they want you off the boat as fast as you do so they can prep for the next batch of complainers waiting to get on the ship.

Before I sail, thanks to internet, I research and study the ships.

We are trying RC Freedom of Sea in April. Not a real new ship with RC but decent size. I do not want to be lost in the crowds with service on the minster ships they have now. I in the past sailed 3 times with Carnival and everytime things became less and less attractive to me on them. That is why we are trying new things and of course more expensive. I am hoping the extra money is worth it.

sounds like you should have done home work.
